Ever fly somewhere just for the day?

Gee, back in 1985 when I was doing on-site job interviews I flew to several places for 1 day. Since then, when doing college tours with youngest DD in 2013 we flew out, stopped in a city for a visit, got back on a plane and flew to another city across the country. I haven't had any desire to fly anywhere for one day since. I can't imagine going to Disney for just one day!

Amsterdam - Paris often for work. Didnt leave the airport for most trips.

But sometimes we had a team event in Paris and then it was also a one day trip, but with sightseeing around Paris.

And one where I had a meeting in the city. I told everyone I had to leave early. I hopped on the subway, got off to see the Notre Dame (before the fire), took some pictures, had some snacks and continued my way to the airport.

Could do a day trip to Disneyland Paris, but I prefer two days, more relaxed.

Looking into train trip to Cologne. It is only 3 hours, perfect for a day trip.

I've never flown anywhere for a job interview where I didn't get at least a hotel room paid for the night before the interview.

I remember a mass interview where everyone who flew in got two night hotel stay. I only asked for one night since I was driving my own car and planning on driving home after the interview day.

Hope you have a nice time.

Not so far for me, back in HS my best friend tried to talk me into such a thing to tan in Florida for prom but we didn't do it when I pointed out we would need to get from the airport to a beach or were we going to bikini up and just tan in the parking lot?

The airport experience is so stressful to me I can't see it being fun, even a weekend can be a bit tight with stress,

I tried doing this back in January. I was supposed to fly out of Cincinnati at 6 am and land in Orlando at 8 am. With all the delays, I didn't leave until 2:30. My 1 day trip to Disney turned into 3 days b/c my flight home was cancelled and couldn't get out until the following day.

I hope I have more luck than you did.

If I get significantly delayed leaving I may just abandon the trip. I would only be out $100.

Like others, I used to travel for work. Would take the shuttle flight from NYC up to Boston for the day, attend meetings for a few hours and come back. Did that 3 or 4 times a year for several years. Also went to DC a few times.

All the time! DH works for an airline. The kids and I spend about a year or so flying somewhere different every other weekend (saw 32 states). All our trips East of the Mississippi were day trips so we didn't incur hotel expenses. and now, between 5-10 times a year, I will fly down to EPCOT for one of the festivals and spend a Saturday eating my way around the world. No one in the family will go with me on those EPCOT day trips because they are so exhausting.

I was supposed to. I was flown down to Orlando for an interview and fly back the same day. The return flight got delayed out of Orlando, missed the connection in Charlotte, and had to get a hotel that night (paid for by the airline). Fortunately I had put a change of underwear in my backpack (didn't bring luggage).

Next month.....NY to Denver to bring my granddaughter back. She is flying out with her mom to visit us (mom will only stay the weekend) and I will fly back with her. Same day or at most overnight depending on flight times.

My husband has done it for work and it was/is for a silly reason when they do; his one coworker doesn't like to stay in a hotel overnight if he absolutely doesn't have to. But for my husband with work that means getting up super early for a flight, working all day then taking a flight that gets home super late when the better solution would be to just stay overnight. It's only the one coworker who does this, the others don't.

But driving we've driven to places for just the day and back home same day and that is often the equivalent of a flight in actual flight time.

My friends and I did Vegas in a day from the east coast. $20 round trip. This was a long time ago though. Came back on the red eye.

DC to NYC for a funeral. The funeral was in Queens, about ten minutes away from LGA, so it worked out very easily.

I hope it works out for you @kdonnel !

Several times, always for work. DC is a day trip from Detroit, and I've done a few "airport interviews" here and there.

Yes. Flew from Beaumont/Port Arthur, Texas to Austin to visit a friend. Left a 7 am, back at 10 pm.
