Ever, Ever After: The TR Formerly Known as Wishing You Were Here- May 2011

The line for Fountain View Ice Cream was insane. There were people lined up out the door and around the corner. Apparently, ice cream was a fantastic idea, an idea shared by a thousand other guests.

"That's going to take forever."

"Yeah, I bet we could get on Soarin' faster that we could get some ice cream here."

We were right at Club Cool, so we decided to stop by, even though we had just drank quite a lot before at the Electric Umbrella.

Club Cool was a madhouse, too. There were people swarming around all the different drink stations. Jeremy quickly disappeared into the crowd, leaving me with the boys and the stroller.

I tried to position ourselves correctly to get some cokes, but there were just too many people cutting in front of us. Somehow, people seemed to think it was fine to cut off a double stroller.

I was getting annoyed at being cut off and annoyed at not being able to find Jeremy, when he reappeared, after having sampled all the drinks.

Jeremy offered to stay with the stroller while I pushed my way to the front of the crowds, but I just wanted to get out of there.

We walked past the Character Spot, but the lines for that looked crazy, too.

I heard Landon making his about to go to sleep noise. He was sucking his thumb and I thought he looked cute.

Jeremy offered to push Landon in the empty hallway behind Character Spot while I took Carter on a ride.

"Hey, Carter, you want to go on a ride?"

He smiled a big happy Carter smile.

"Carter go!"

I got him out and we walked together to Journey Into the Imagination- one ride I can count on to never have a line.

Sure enough, we walked right onto the ride. Carter was thrilled and it was clear he had not lost his love for rides.

We had a lot of fun riding together. Carter is a great ride buddy. I was a little nervous he would be scared during the train part, but he was fine.

I was really hoping that we would get rose or mint instead of skunk, but no luck there. It was skunk again. Oh, well.

Carter loved the whole ride, including the surprising part at the end. We spent a minute or two playing with the musical instruments outside the ride.

I felt we should go check on Jeremy and Landon and I planned to offer to let Jeremy take Carter on the ride again. Carter would love to go again.

I was expecting to see a sleeping Landon, but instead, Landon was crawling around in the hallway and Jeremy was following him.

"After you left, Landon claimed he wasn't tired at all, so I let him out to play some more."

"All right. Well, if he's not going to sleep, then he's going to have to go on rides, with the rest of us."

"Where to?"

"I think maybe Spaceship Earth would be fun."

We walked over there and found a bit of a line. Spaceship Earth is usually one of the ones I refuse to wait for, since it will be a walk on at some point.

At that moment, though, it seemed easier to just wait it out.

DSCI0282.JPG

Landon was starting to look kind of rough again. Poor little guy. If only he would just take a nap.

DSCI0283.JPG

The line moved pretty fast and the boys were good while we waited.

DSCI0284.JPG

Carter had brought some blocks with him to play with while he waited. He told me all about them.

"Red block. Blue block."

DSCI0286.JPG

"I like your blocks, Carter. That's very nice."

We made it onto the ride and Carter rode with me. I tried to make sure he got his picture taken for later.

Carter loved Spaceship Earth, too. He studied everything we went past and looked as if he was learning a lot about communication.

I could hear Landon giving Jeremy a hard time behind us. I also thought I could detect Jeremy's narrator speaking German. I suspected Landon was responsible for that, somehow.

Carter helped me pick our future and I thought our future looked pretty good.

DSCI0287.JPG

After the ride was over, I thought Jeremy could use a Landon break, so we switched buddies and spent a little time exploring the games after the ride.

Most of the games seemed to bore Landon, who was a bit cranky.

But then, we found an empty racing game. I sat down and got the game started and Landon had a fabulous time pushing buttons and steering.

He laughed when he made the car go fast and he laughed when we crashed. Landon has a great laugh.

Jeremy and Carter came over to see what was so fun and I had room for one more little boy in my lap. The game got even more fun, with Carter and Landon both pushing buttons and steering and laughing.

It was so much fun, that I was sad when it was over. We would have played again and again, but there was another boy waiting patiently behind us to take a turn.

I knew if it had been Carter or Landon standing there, I would have wanted the person playing to let them have a turn, so I collected my small children and we left Spaceship Earth, all in considerably better spirits than when we went in.

"Hey, it's after five. We could go grab dinner at Sunshine Seasons and maybe after dinner, it won't be so hot."

That sounded fine to me, so we started off toward The Land.

I'm sorry things were so crowded, but I"m glad you got some rides in! :thumbsup2
Is it possible that your boys are getting cuter as the trip goes on???? They are just so adorable!!!! :)

Well, even though y'all didn't get any ice cream, it sounds like it was a really nice afternoon. And it seems like y'all had a great time on the rides but especially with the race car game after Spaceship Earth. We hardly even looked around at the games there on our last trip. Guess I just figured there wouldn't be anything young enough for Reid. I'll definitely have to give it a closer look next time!

Carter looks absolutely delighted to be on Figment (one of my all time favorites).

Sorry the ice cream thing didn't work out (we'v never eaten at Fountainview...we just grab ice cream from the cart), but at least you cooled off with riding Spaceship Earth and the boys laguhed and had fun playing games with mommy. :goodvibes

Sorry you didn't get ice cream :headache:. I guess it makes sense that everyone else would want it too. I know I always want ice cream. :lmao:

I can't believe you didn't take advantage of Jeremy's offer to take the stroller at Club Cool so that you could go and get some Beverly.:rolleyes1

I think it is great that Carter enjoys the rides so much. That is a great picture of him smiling on the Figment ride (yeah, that's what I call it and I don't care :rotfl2:). I'm glad you were able to find a game for the boys to have fun playing after SSE. It's always a good thing to leave a ride in a better mood than you went in.

You should be proud that you're raising a bilingual Landon! :thumbsup2 :lmao::rotfl2:

Carter looked so please to be on the ride, that is too cute!! Sometimes that end part freaks me out even though I know what happens :rotfl:

Every time I go to Club Cool even during down times of the year, people are pushing their way in to the machines :confused3

Sounds like that was just not your day. You still seemed to make the best out of any situation, though. I'm glad to see Carter enjoyed Spaeship Earth, and I laughed that Landon put his narrator in German. I'm sure that was an interesting ride for Jeremy...:rotfl:

Happy Boy!! Love it!

The line moved pretty fast and the boys were good while we waited.

Aww, sweetie. It looks like someone is teething, too.

"Hey, it's after five. We could go grab dinner at Sunshine Seasons and maybe after dinner, it won't be so hot."

Love me some Sunshine Seasons! The variety you can get in there is hard to beat. I hope it isn't too crowded and you have a nice dinner!

I'm sorry things were so crowded, but I"m glad you got some rides in! :thumbsup2
Is it possible that your boys are getting cuter as the trip goes on???? They are just so adorable!!!! :)

I thought it was kind of funny that the two rides we went on weren't nearly as crowded as Club Cool and Fountain View. :rotfl: The rides were really fun.
It's definitely possible the boys are getting cuter. I suspect they get a little bit cuter every day. :goodvibes

Aww, I'm sorry you guys didn't get to have ice cream, Epcot sounds like it was very crowded that day! I never get to go to the Character Spot, the line is always crazy, and there are so many classic characters that I'd love to meet there, but never bother with! :confused3

Sounds like you guys had a great time on Figment and Spaceship Earth!

You know, it did end up being a nice afternoon. It's really hard to not have fun at Disney World, no matter how many things don't go your way. That race car game was awesome. My boys loved it. I wish Jeremy had gotten a picture of them playing it. They were laughing like crazy. I bet Reid would love it, too.

Carter looks absolutely delighted to be on Figment (one of my all time favorites).

I like Figment, too. Carter was so happy to be going on a ride. I can't wait to take him on more Disney rides.

I thought the ice cream at Fountainview looked really good. I was thinking of getting a sundae and sitting and watching the Fountain of Nations, but that's okay. Spaceship Earth was fun, at least for me and Carter and we all had a good time playing games afterward.

Sorry you didn't get ice cream :headache:. I guess it makes sense that everyone else would want it too. I know I always want ice cream. :lmao:

Ice cream would have been perfect, but with the two boys, it just didn't make sense to wait for it. Landon seems to think that if he sees someone with food he wants, he can go sit with them and eat up. :rotfl:

It was a very kind offer of Jeremy to let me go get some Beverly, but sadly, it was so crowded that even Beverly would have been hard to get to. Maybe next time.

I think it's really cool that Carter loves the rides, too. I love how happy he looks in that picture. I have no problem with calling it the Figment ride. Journey into the Imagination can be a mouthful. Or keyboardful. :rotfl: I suppose we leave most rides in better moods than when we went in, but Spaceship Earth was just the right thing at the time.

Bilingual Landon. Actually, I think he might be trilingual. He spoke gibberish with another toddler at the museum today.

Carter looked so please to be on the ride, that is too cute!! Sometimes that end part freaks me out even though I know what happens :rotfl:

Every time I go to Club Cool even during down times of the year, people are pushing their way in to the machines :confused3

Carter was thrilled with being on that ride. I thought it was really cute, too. That end part is startling, even when you're ready for it. I was glad Carter didn't mind it.

I suppose the word is out on Club Cool and now everyone stops by. It didn't seem nearly as crowded in December, but I guess that makes sense, since it was very cold then.

Sounds like that was just not your day. You still seemed to make the best out of any situation, though. I'm glad to see Carter enjoyed Spaeship Earth, and I laughed that Landon put his narrator in German. I'm sure that was an interesting ride for Jeremy...:rotfl:

It definitely was not my day. Nothing bad really happened, but just lots of little things didn't quite go right. We still had fun, though. Carter seemed to get a lot out of Spaceship Earth, but I'm betting Landon didn't learn nearly as much from his German narrator.

Love me some Sunshine Seasons! The variety you can get in there is hard to beat. I hope it isn't too crowded and you have a nice dinner!

Carter was so happy he got to go on a ride. It was great to see him look so excited.

Landon seems to take teething a lot more seriously than Carter. Carter just sort of popped out teeth and never seemed to fuss much about it. Landon wants to make sure you know when he's teething.

Sunshine Seasons is one of our favorites at Epcot. It's easy to find good food for the boys and Jeremy and I have plenty to chose from. And I love that key lime pie!

I'm not sure if Epcot was really that crowded or if we just kept making poor choices and going where everyone else was. I've never done the Character Spot either. I think it would be fun, but I just can't see spending that much time waiting, unless I had a little kid who really wanted to see all the characters.

We did have a great time of Figment and Spaceship Earth. It's fun to go on rides with Carter, since he's so enthusiastic.

We arrived at The Land and I was all ready to get my favorite Sunshine Seasons meal- the pork chop with key lime pie for dessert.

We parked the stroller and went to get the boys out and came face to face with a sleeping Carter. He was out cold.

It was good that he was sleeping, since he had to be getting tired by then, and yet, our plans had been foiled once again, since we couldn't take the stroller into The Land.

Landon started up with thumb sucking and going to sleep sounds so we decided to go on a very fast paced walk around World Showcase, in an effort to lull him to sleep.

We passed by the African Cats sand sculpture that I thought was pretty cool.

DSCI0288.JPG

We made it to Canada and Landon was still holding in there.

DSCI0289.JPG

"Hey, how come we never go to Le Cellier anymore?"

DSCI0290.JPG

The last time we had been there was on our honeymoon. It had been a wonderful meal that lasted nearly three hours. Our server had given us Soarin' Fastpasses since it took so long. Completely unnecessary, since we had loved every second of our meal.

"We don't go there because we have two little boys who don't appreciate the finer cuts of steak."

"I bet Landon would love a filet."

"He can have the kid's filet with mushroom risotto."

For some reason, the thought of little Landon eating a filet and risotto seemed kind of funny. He probably would like it. He has good taste.

We made it to the UK and Landon still wasn't asleep. I admired the Captain Hook topiary and wished Carter was up to see it, since he's a Hook fan. I also wished Landon was asleep, so I could stop and really get a good look.

DSCI0291.JPG

The UK garden looked really beautiful and I regretted rushing past it, too.

DSCI0292.JPG

The tea cups were cute, but Landon's eyelids were seriously drooping. Any minute now and we'd have him.

DSCI0293.JPG

We reached France and I glanced in at Landon and saw his eyes closed. Finally! Since Jeremy and I were hungry, I suggested we stop in at the Patisserie and get one of those tasty ham and cheese croissants.

Naturally, while we were there, we also picked up a slice of cheesecake, an almond croissant, and an iced cappuccino. We had a lot of snack credits to use up.

It ended up being a bad idea. While waiting in line to pay, Landon's eyes flew open and he knew he had been tricked into sleeping, despite the fact that he wasn't a bit tired.

We paid for our food and resumed walking as fast as we reasonable could. Landon made it all the way to Japan this time before falling back asleep.

We decided to be a little smarter this time and slowly decreased our speed and continued walking to America so that the sudden stillness would not disturb Landon's slumber.

Tired and hungry, we found a shady spot in the American pavilion and sat down on the ground to enjoy our snacks in peace, while our boys finally had their naps.

Oh snacks and a nap...sounds like a lovely afternoon. Even if poor little Landon was tricked into sleeping... ;)

Yay for the boys going to sleep! Even if you had to trick poor, little Landon into it! Evil parents! :lmao: If it makes you feel any better, I trick Reid into naps all the time. He has NEVER napped well & gave up naps completely around 18 months. So, when I'm exhausted & he (okay, I) need a nap, I tell him we're going to have "quiet movie time". He almost always ends up falling asleep! :thumbsup2

Your snacks sound delicious! I wouldn't mind a ham & cheese croissant and an iced cappuccino right about now. Do you think the Patisserie delivers? :rotfl2: Can you imagine the delivery charge for them to come to my house in Louisiana? :scared1:

Sorry you did not get your pork chop at Sunshine Seasons, but glad the boys got their naps (finally). I love that ham amd cheese croissant.

Why is it that kids always wake up as soon as the motion stops? glad your boys both finally fell to sleep and stayed asleep.

that ham and cheese croissant sounds right up my alley. yum!

Fountainview always seems to have a very long line when we go there, but it does move quickly.

Carter looks like an excellent ride buddy.

I didn't know there was a mint or rose option on Figment. I have always had skunk:sick:

I'm sure you hear this a lot but the boys have the cutest little cheeks. I don't know how you don't just pinch them each day. :lovestruc

Yay! You won the sleep race. I couldn't help but laugh when his eyes flew open in that stop. I've definitely been there many, many times!

I'm with Jeremy on Le Cellier. You should try it with them! Any chance it's in the plans for your next visit? I bet they'd both love it!
