Hi all ...

I remember reading a while ago that someone had gone to the CG just for desserts and fireworks. Ever done this? I know that most of the western world probably tries to arrange ressies to watch fireworks. I'm not sure if I would feel too self-conscious just ordering desserts. Maybe appetizers and desserts?
The reason for avoiding a full meal is the menu ... my family is a bit particular. popcorn::
Anyway ... any thoughts would be appreciated!

It's a restaurant... you can order as little or as much as you want. :) There's nothing wrong with going just for coffee and desserts. Obviously, don't use DDP credits to pay for it... just pay out of pocket.

Well ... yes ... it IS a restaurant ... that much I'm sure of. :)
I simply wondered if it was frowned upon to occupy a table just for dessert.
I do realize as well that it is WDW and virtually anything goes ... I was just trying to be considerate.
Given the other posts I've read regarding the frenzy surrounding Wishes viewing, I think we'll pass.

Yes, but it is YOUR vacation. If you want to get the amazing desserts at Cali Grill and watch Wishes, who's to stop you? If you really want to do it, then I say go for it. Remember, you're a big part of the magic you create on your own vacation!

BTW, I don't think it is inconsiderate to do this. I do think it is inconsiderate for the folks that have dinner ressies at 6pm and sit and sit and sit until Wishes....that holds up tables for other guests that have made ressies.

Nothing at all wrong with it. In fact, since the table will be turned over quicker due to your short visit, it will probably be appreciated by the people who are seated at the same table after you're done.

The frenzy was greatly diminished when they stopped allowing people to visit CG without an ADR. I would suggest making an ADR, then requesting a table away from the windows when you check in at the podium. (There are quieter areas of the restaurant.) When the fireworks are about to start, you can leave the table to watch them from the deck, then return to the table. If you've already finished your dessert before the fireworks, you can return to the restaurant to view the fireworks later by showing your receipt.
