Ever done one of the magic shows?

What do you guys think of the magic shows that are sometimes mixed into the itinerary? Are they typically of the same caliber as the Broadway shows? Worth seeing?

No they are not the same caliber as the Disney shows. Most of them are good. It's worth seeing.

I do like the magic shows.

The cruise I remember best wth a magician had one big show, then he had a kid show at one of the venues in the daytime, then he had an adult focused one at a nightclub at around 10pm. It was cool.

I saw Hector is Magic with my son, on the Magic last summer. We both thoroughly enjoyed the show! Was it as good as the broadway style shows? To me no, but we both loved it!

With 2 or 3 exceptions, I'm with you on the Disney shows. I'm not into cheese. And really, most are not Broadway quality!

Recently on the Magic there was a magician. The earlier family show was right after the main show (before second seating) in a smaller venue. The magician was very good and included kids in the show. His adult show was later at night. Also on the cruise was a ventriloquist and Buckets n Boards. I didn't care for either but my daughter really enjoyed them so I guess they hit the target audience.

I agree the main stage shows on DCL are much better than what we saw on Carnival or Royal. DCL shows are very well done. I have not enjoyed most of the magician and other shows of the like.

I think the only aspect that suffers a bit in some the main Disney shows is the story lines. But the simple stories are forgivable (and possibly necessary) since it is a short show and created so that a younger audience can enjoy and understand them as well. I have been to many Broadway shows. DCLs shows have the same caliber of singers, dancers, sets, and lighting of most of the Broadway shows that I have been to.

I don't go to the magic shows or the ventriloquists. I can go to that type of entertainment anytime I want to, so I don't care to go while I'm on a Disney cruise. I actually have a popular comedy club close by that brings in decent talent every weekend, so it isn't much of a draw for me.

Painfully expensive, but worth it!), Les Mis, Lion King, Phantom, Chicago, Kinky Boots, Wicked, and even--blech--Cats (I'm not referring to the touring productions of these Broadway shows, either, although I've seen many of them that way, as well), and we'll have to disagree. The talent on the ships is good, but no better than an average mid-size city's community theater, in my opinion.

The revue shows (it's revue, and not review, BTW) on Royal Caribbean, which we've seen, are also schlocky, but at least there is variety to them because there is variety to their ships, so you only have to sit through the same schlock once. Relatively fresh schlock is easier to stomach than the same shows again and again, in our opinion.

We're sailing the Fantasy again April 8th and will definitely attend the magic show.

Totally agree with ALL of this. I have also seen many Broadway (on Broadway) shows including all of the Disney shows (my fav Beauty & The Beast 3 times). We also support several community theaters and that's what the DCL shows are like to us. We enjoy the aqua and ice shows on RCI much more than the cheesy shows on DCL (a few ARE good - most recently we enjoyed Tangled). As someone mentioned DCL shows suffer because of the story lines. I can say I like shows on other lines or that I don't think DCL shows are Broadway quality without it being a slam to Disney.

That's who we saw on the Magic in November! We really enjoyed his show and the kids in the audience loved him.

Depends who you will be seeing do it. Most are great, last cruise had mike super, he was great. Worth going, to me it's the best show on the ship.

To go back to your original question about magic shows. They are not as elaborate as some, but considering they are on a cruise ship for a few days, and not in the same theater for months, I'd say they are pretty good. If you like magic shows, you are likely to enjoy them. If you are looking for something amazing that you've never seen anything like, maybe not.
