We were scheduled to be in WDW from 11/20 to 11/25 but my grandmother passed away 11/22 so we returned home to be with family.

My question is, has anyone else ever had to do this and if so, how did Disney handle the remaining days? Did you receive a refund or a voucher to be able to use the additional days at another time?

When I spoke to Disney Guest Services I requested a voucher, but the CM said he could not guarantee that that's what the research and refund department will do. Either way is fine, but we were hoping to just get a voucher so we could return soon. It was hard to explain to a 6 and 7 year old why we had to leave Disney after only 1 1/2 days.

Just wondering if anyone else has had to do this.

Thanks.

I was at CSR once and my boss didn't like it there. So we moved to an off site hotel. WDW refunded the money back to us but it took several days to show up in my debit acct.

I've never had to cut a vacation short, but I would like to extend my deepest sympathies on the loss of your grandmother.

Sincerely,
Morticia.

Thank you Morticia. That was very thoughtful of you. I appreciate it.

I can't answer your question about getting vouchers from Disney. I just wanted to extend my sympathy and prayers to you in the lost of your loved one during this holiday season. :grouphug:

:grouphug: No answer here to your ? but deepest sympathy in the loss of your Grandmother. :grouphug:

Sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother.

We've cut our trip short twice. Once my mother had had all the fun she could take and the other time the weather was getting yucky on the way home (we go in an rv) and the baby had gotten sick. Both times we went to the front desk and explained our circumstances. The money was credited back to our account. We turned the golf cart in early and got cash back.

took older sister (then 28) almost 2 yrs. ago. she behaved VERY BADLY so we left 2 days early. had paid hotel balance w/cash at check-in so when we checked out, i got refund in cash on the spot. sorry about your grandmother.

luvpoohbear,
I'm very sorry to hear about your grandmother's passing. I suddenly lost my best friend, at 21, recently and it's been the single worst event in my life, so I can imagine it's been very tragic for you. I'm also sorry you had to cut your trip short. I really hope Disney pulls through for you.

Thanks so much Purplebelle. I am very sorry to hear about your best friend. So young!! Granny led a wonderful full life and to be honest she was ready to go. But to lose someone so young, how sad!

I hope Disney comes through too, I am just starting to getting really depressed about the situation as a whole. I was really looking forward to spending the week at WDW, but these things can't be helped and WDW will always be there. I should have hugged Pooh 1 more time!! :D

Take care and God Bless!
