Has anyone ever bought eyeglasses from Costco? How did the price compare to Lenscrafters (for example)? :3dglasses

I need a new pair of glasses and might as well take advantage of my Costco membership if it's worth it.

I've bought several pair at Costco, I get my contacts at Costco and I have ordered replacement lenses there as well. The only drawback I see is that it takes a few days to get the items, its not a 1 hour type deal.

I've only dealt with my eye Dr. and his sky high prices vs. Costco, Costco is by far a much better deal. Example the scratch coating my eye Dr puts on is close to $65 and at Costco it was around $20 - Costco has a ton of frames starting at under $50 and my Dr's office has nothing under $150.

I regularly buy my DS 18's contacts at Costco, and they're a little cheaper than Lenscrafters (which is where we used to go for everything) -- I only buy one box for each eye at a time. And I bought DS14's last pair of glasses at Costco -- holy moly, what a difference! I paid $65 -- that's right -- for new frames and new lenses. They weren't kids frames, and they were only single vision lenses, but wow! His last pair at Lenscrafters was nearly $400. They did take a couple of days. I'm getting new glasses for the rest of us there -- I'm sure mine and DH's will be more -- I have progressives and DH will need them -- but I'm sure they'll be less than 1/2 the cost of Lenscrafters. As for the eye doctor -- the one here seems good.

I'm very satisfied with my glasses from Costco. Not sure of the price compared to Lenscrafters, but much cheaper than my eye doctor!

We don't go to Lenscrafter, so can't compare.

DH gets his glasses from Costco all the time. They last as long, or longer than other places. He is very hard on them.
DD gets her contacts there as well.
No complaints.

Thank you everyone. Costco is it!

I found my last receipt from Perle Vision. The bill was $450 for a pair of progressive biofocals. I do remember I did get a free pair of sunglasses, but still!!!! I'm sure I can do better at Costco.

Costco is so much cheaper than any of the other eye places! I have very poor vision and my bifocal lenses are $160 at Costco. They also have them for $130 if your vision isn't too bad. These are progressive lenses, thin, anti glare, etc. The only feature that costs extra is if you want transitions lenses. You can pay $100 for frames, but I think my last ones were only $40. If you use existing frames they charge you $25. My daughter has single vision lenses and she pays around $100 for frames and lenses. We used to have vision insurance, but dropped it when we found out that Costco costs about half of what the other places cost even with insurance. The only drawback is that it takes about 2 weeks to get your glasses back.

We bought our costco membership just because of the optical department. It has saved us a lot of money over lenscrafters.

FYI if you have VSP insurance, while Costco won't take it at their store you can submit your receipts to VSP for reimbursement. My insurance broker did it recently and was the one who told me to tell all of our employees.

I have been very happy with the price and the quality at Costco. I read "somewhere"; sorry, I can't remember where but it was not a promotion for Costco, that while you have to wait a bit for your glasses, they produce the best quality with fewer mistakes than Lenscrafter, Pearl, etc.
