Ever bought a bargain and then realized you have no use for it?

I came upon some brand new Coach sneakers (Poppy, denim high tops, if anyone is interested) at the thrift last night for $6. Put them on my own feet, they seemed a bit big, which I thought meant they would fit the niece. Put them on when I got home and meandered around the living room and realized they fit perfectly.

Dang it. They'd be too small on the niece, as her foot is about a half-size to a size larger than mine. (Same general shape though.)

I put them back in the bag, ready to take them back to the store.

Today at work, I went on ebay and realized what a steal I'd gotten. Now I don't want to take them back, but there's a 95% chance they are too small for the niece. I'm too old for them.

This is how hoarding starts! :rotfl:

Maybe I'll give to my DN and tell her "they won't fit you, I know, but see if any of your friends can wear them." She has plenty of friends whose parents have a tough time making ends meet, and she and her friends trade clothes sometimes, so it wouldn't be looked on as charity.

Still. Too funny. Staring at those shoes, I really do know how hoarding starts!

Why not donate them? Does your school system have a clothing bank for students?

I know exactly what you mean. A few months ago I ordered a pair of fake Ugg style boots when they were on clearance at Kohls.com for $9.00 because there was a long thread on here about what a great deal they were. When they arrived, they were really cute, but I realized they just weren't something that I would wear. I ended up taking them to work and giving them to a co-worker who is going to give them to her daughter for Christmas (there were still new in the box).

I got 2 of the princess dolls from Target back in August when the $30 dolls were ringing up $9. I figured I would give one to each of my girls so I got a Snow White and a Cinderella. Well since then, DD4 has decided that she has no interest in the Cinderella (but I'm definitely giving DD2 the Snow White) and the 2 other backup people I was planning on giving Cinderella to are only interested in Snow White as well. I figure I'll put it in the closet until some of the baby girls we know get a bit bigger so it does have a use, just not at all what I had planned.

I would still give DD4 the Cindy doll because 4 yr olds change their mind often and when she sees her sis with one she will want one too.
