Has anyone ever booked a Disney Resort at a discounted rate for more then whats advertised?

The reason I ask is I know major hotel chains fill empty rooms with Hotwire, Priceline etc. but Disney does not. Wouldn't Disney want to fill those empty rooms for more food sales, ticket sales etc.

im just assuming, but i think disney looks ahead and plans there priceing and discounts to make sure there rooms are booked. mabey not all of them but enough for them to turn a nice profit. if there was a way to get a unadvertised discount i bet it would be all over sites like these.:confused3

Disney also can offer last minute deals to cast members and their guests. :thumbsup2

Many years ago WDW was showing up on priceline. If I remember right, it only lasted a few weeks and they never did again. I assume it didn't work well for them for some reason.

Disney operates at above industry standard occupancy levels without deep discounting - and by controlling their own discounting, they maximize profits. When there are deep discounts regularly available for things people want rather than need, people tend to wait for the discounts. And if the discounts aren't there, they spend their money somewhere else.

Discounted more than what's advertised directly by Disney? Yes, many people have done that. The expedia uk deal just recently. cheaptickets when they have 20, 25 or rarely even 30% off. They are occasionally cheaper on lmtclub.com. expedia.ca over this past New Years had some room types way cheaper than booking direct. I could go on and on.

If you mean unadvertised by anyone then technically yes, lmtclub and travelpony would fit that bill.

Wow! Really?
So you have booked a Disney Resort cheaper on some of these sites then what you could have directly through Disney? Everytime I check Expedia or Cheaptickets and others for a Disney Resort they are always more expensive then booking it directly through Disney.

Good information.

Thanks

Yw. expedia.com I have never had luck with. If you search this forum you should be able to find the thread on the Expedia uk deal but that deal is expired. Got us AK Savannah View for over 55% off this fall. Yay!
Cheaptickets you need to use a promo code and those change weekly. Works best at peak times when Disney is not offering their own discounts.
Almost forgot, Swan and Dolphin do show up on Priceline bidding every so often.

Wow what site did you book the AK Savannah view on?
Do you have any experience with LMTClub? Do you know if they offer Disney Resorts? I'm pretty good at figuring out hotels on Hotwire and Priceline. Not sure if LMTClub worth the $50. We are passholders so always looking for discount hotels.

Thanks

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3222577 Join lmtclub for free using code MAYNOJ. Great site but like I said Disney resorts are only sometimes discounted on there. Also look further down this forum for the Orbitz thread.

Yes last year we stayed at the GF for like what.... $250 a night? That's more than 50% off rack rate, I think.

We booked Wilderness Lodge through priceline last year and I just booked POP on priceline a couple of weeks ago for this May. The hotels listed on Priceline are inconsistent and sometimes just have Swan but during slower times of the year have a lot to choose from!

we had 60% off of yacht club last Aug thru my Daughter while she was doing the CP program plus had the dining plan for about $20, can't beat that

We booked the Poly for Aug 2014 for $212 per night inclusive of all taxes. I think Disney was charging $440 on their website. We used Magical Vacations Travel

We used them too, 3500 with tickets for 4, 7 nights at the Grand Floridian.

Last May I booked BC for the regular 30% off that wdw was offering, but did it thru Orbitz for an additional 20% off of that. :cool1:

This Labor Day weekend, I went thru a travel agency and we have BC booked for under $200 per night, incl tax! Our total package for 10 nights, 8 day hoppers for the 5 of us, and a day at a waterpark comes to about $3500.

Yes! I booked AKL with 46% off Disney's Rack Rate through Orbitz for this July! Thanks to the Dis board for helping find this great deal!!!

Yes. A few years ago I was on Orbitz and booked 14 nights at the POLY for $129/night in August. That price was only up for a few hours -- I think it might have been a mistake but it was honored no questions asked. :cool1:

A few years ago there was a pricing glitch on an airline vacation website. I got 4 nights in a studio, regular dining plan and 5-day hoppers for a total of $605 for 2 adults. :cheer2: The error stayed on the website for several days.
