Ever been "upgraded"?

I've been upgraded twice - the first was when I was younger with my parents and my mom had been ill and we were taking a vacation to celebrate her recovery. They upgraded us from a standard to a Club Level at the Poly.
The other was more recent. Two years ago we went to the GF for my friends bachelorette weekend and they upgraded us from standard to a beautiful pool view. Both times we're for specific reasons so that probably plays a factor. :goodvibes

Our first trip was May 2009 and we were upgraded from a standard view to a woods view at Wilderness Lodge. Our next trip in May 2011 we booked 7 nights in a garden view at Grand Floridian & were upgraded to a deluxe room. I don't know if we will be able to stay in a "regular" room again, the deluxe was fantastic :lovestruc

The only time I got Upgraded was back in 2007, and it was one of the biggest I have read about ever. First time my wife and I go together, we book a cheap room at POP for 10 days with Free Dining for first week in Sept i believe. About a month before, I get an email asking if I want to upgrade so I call and say I do, and we get a 1 Bedroom Villa at Old Key West, for 10 days, with Free dining at the POP rate (which was like $70/night). We had a room right on the water over looking an awesome fountain, had a Jacuzzi Tub, it was amazing. Greatest trip we have had, and that was back with Dining included an App and included Tip, man those were the good days.

Our very first stay on Disney property, we booked a garden room at the Contemporary and were upgraded to a tower room with a view of the Castle; in 2008 we were upgraded to a junior suite at the Coronado Springs Resort from a standard room.

I have been going every couple of years since 1978 and have never had an upgrade but then I am one of those people that things like that don't happen to. :)

I do love me some Disney World though. :thumbsup2

We were upgraded a couple of weeks ago at WL from standard to courtyard view

just 'cuz:wizard:

In 2009 we booked a garden view at CR. I made no special room and requests and we weren't there celebrating anything. When we checked in we found out we were upgraded to a MK view in the tower. :cool1: It totally made our trip! It was during a construction phase and that parking lot where they were doing a lot of work was part of our view so that may have been part of the free upgrade. I would probably be upset if I'd paid for the MK view and had to see (and hear) all that construction. It didn't bother us though!

We went to Disney for our Honeymoon. We did the Land and Sea package, and stayed at the Contemporary for the Land portion. We were given our room on the 14th floor, I think it was, and we had the concierge call us to see if we needed anything (and she made us a last minute reservation for Victoria and Alberts) but we didn't think anything about it until we got home and I discovered these boards and boards like them. We were upgraded (I think I remember reading AFTER our trip that Land and Sea folks usually got put in the Garden rooms at the time) and had no idea. Not only did we never step foot in the lounge, but we were completely clueless to our luck until we got home. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: In fairness, I was so tired when we got there, that I barely remember what the CMs said to us. My husband thinks he remembered hearing something about keycards and elevators, but neither of us were paying that much attention. :) Guess that taught us a lesson.

Sad, but I guess that is why people need the DISboards. :)

We were upgraded from Pop to an OKW 2 bedroom villa a few years ago and were given a canal facing room. It was magical!:wizard:

We were meeting friend's for their 1st visit to WDW. We booked two rooms right next to each other at OKW so it would be easy to meet up. When we got there we had rooms booked on opposite sides of the resort which was fine but not what we had expected. The CM apologized for the mix up and they upgraded to a grand villa to share for the week :cloud9:

Never been upgraded but in 2010 my mom entered a magazine contest to go to Universal Studios for a week and won it so we got our entire vacation paid for it was really lucky.

This year we stayed at the Poly for 2 nights on New Years Eve. We were checking out to move over to POR for the first week of January with free dining. They upgraded us at the Poly desk, and told us we could just staying there for the entire week! It was wonderful!!

WOW!!

No upgrades for us, yet =)

My Mom won an all expense paid trip to Disney for the family 6....I think it was through the car rental company Alamo. The hotel was offsite though...I believe it was the Hyatt.

We are staying at POP in two weeks. other than standard to preferred? (and I booked preferred) are there any upgrades that can be done at POP. Sure not expecting anything but wouldn't it be lovely.

I have had 3 upgrades in the 20 plus years we have been visiting. The first was 10 years ago when I used to smoke. The smoking rooms were sold out and I was upgraded to Club level at BC to accomadate my smoking request. The second time I booked a cheap room at AKL on a pin code for $99 and got upgraded to pool/savanna view our room was on the end and we could see the pool and the sunset savannah very cool room. The last time was last year I was 9 months pregnant and taking my older son to the Halloween party. I again booked a discounted room at The Contemporary in the tower I think it was just a Bay Lake View and got upgraded to Magic Kingdom View and club level. Very nice for a pregnant women. This was the best upgrade ever. It was cute to see all the little ones in the club lounge all dressed for the party.

I was at POP a few years ago for the first week of Free Dining and Disney was upgrading people to CSR (I think). So ... it could happen.

Nov. 2010 my DD (35) and I were booked at POFQ 5 nights, perferred room, had called to request room close to bus area and food court. When we arrived we were upgraded to the Contempoary. Wonderful surprise since my daughter had just recently been diagnoised with MS.

Not sure that it is considered an upgrade, but we were assigned a turret room at GF. Loved that room! I had read about them and thought that would be a cool room to have, but since I'm not a special request person I just had to take my chances and that gamble paid off.
