I just watched the Food Network Top 10 rest. and #5 was Waffle House and I, for the first time, I really want to go.

Beautiful looking waffles and my husband would love the T-bone steak for under $10.

There's a Waffle House in my town that opened up here 3 years ago and we've never been -- because of the appeal of it. Not my type.

But seeing the Food Network display -- wow, I may go there tonight for dinner with the family.

We don't have them up here, but when we drive to Disney, south of Delaware, they are everywhere! One of these trips we will stop.

I love Waffle House.

Cheese and Eggs... Yummy!

We don't have them in Massachusetts, but whenever we are down south we have to go! The pecan waffles are the best. Maybe it's a good thing they don't have them up here. I would go too often!

As soon as we cross the line into Kentucky we see Waffle Houses everywhere! My DH loves to eat there! So did my late FIL - once, on a business trip, they wanted to eat at every Waffle House we drove by.

I honestly don't know if we have them or not. I just assumed they were places off the Interstate. Not in town type places.

I have never been able to convince my family to stop at an Awful House. Dunno why?

We have them all over the place. And for those people talking about what they see in WalMart - they aint seen NOTHIN till they've been in a Waffle House on a Saturday night. The dregs of society are found at ours - working and eating. Once we ordered omelets and they were swimming in grease. I was afraid to complain because the cook looked like an escaped convict.

The food quality is hit or miss. They do pretty good on the hash browns and waffles. Anying else - like eggs - are very dicey. We havent been in 2 years. The last time was right after an ice storm where most people didnt have power for a week. After being cooped up in a friends apartment for several days that meal at Waffle House was yummy!

Wow I really thought this thread was a joke---never thought about people not having waffle houses everywhere - been eating at them for 25 years or so! I foror they aren't "everywhere" though they ARE on evey corner here--

Mom & friends used to go every morning or so for coffee after their morning walk...so I often went

My kiddos LOVE the waffles - so we'll go for them if I"m in the mood for bfast I get the All Star meal (scramble egss, grits, toast, bacon) & waffle & give dd the waffle to eat! IF its lunch time I'll get either the grilled chicken sandwich or the burger.

There's some GOOD food there!
The only problem is there is no non-smoking section there - which is a bummer so we pick carefully when to go (not when it's busy)

The BEST BEST BEST grits are served there!

Get the heck out!!!

My family teases me because Waffle House is one of my favorite reasons to travel south (other than WDW).

But I thought I was just wierd

...number five huh??

Love waffle houses. I will go there for lunch, cost less than McDonalds. They make a very fluffly omelet too.

we went to the one on the 192 the time before last when we went to disney and the food was great.

My family has been going there all my life. It was my grandma's favorite place for me to take her. The waitresses know me by name and watched my kids grow up.

There's no place better if you want comfort food. :)

We went to one in Atlanta, Georgia when my cousin got married there. I prefer IHOP, but it was ok.

I had no idea that this restuarant that sits in my town was so loved??!!

Towncrier -- it's probably the appeal of the rest.

The exact name of the Foodnetwork show was "Top five rest for 24 hours".

I never known...............................

::yes::

I had a friend who worked as a cook at a WH years ago. The one he worked at had quite a few regulars who hung out there. It was like going to a neighborhood bar, that served breakfast and T-bones, instead of alcohol.

Everyone should go at least once, just for the experience!

I have lost all faith in the Food Network. Yeah it's an ok 24 hour dive. But that's what it is...a dive.

How 'bout it. I've been downright scared in some Waffle Houses.

Of course nothing beats Waffle House when you've been out drinking until 4 am.
