Ever been to Kalamazoo?

I'm not even sure where it's at, I think, Michigan? Anyway, we had our first rehearsal last night. The man cast as Sir, said his name was Jim Carver, and he ran the largest community theater in the country for over 30 years. He's now retired and lives in Erie, a small town south of Longmont. He's always loved The Dresser, so decided to audition. Another cast member, another Jim, asked him if he was from Kalamazoo. He said yes. He then asked, "Are you the Carver, that the Carver Center is named for?" He again said yes. Come to find out, the second Jim acted there when he was in high school, 20 years prior. Mr. Carver was the director of the show he was in. This community theater has three stages and runs 24 shows a year. Incredible! I definately felt slightly awed having someone with that experience in our cast. Hope I learn a lot from him.

Anyone heard of the Carver Center in Kalamazoo??

Kalamazoo is about 30 miles south of us. And yes, that's where you'll find Carver Center. It's a smaller, secondary performing place for shows by various civic theatre groups.

Kalamazoo is in SW Michigan. I was born in Kalamazoo and spent the first 25 years of my life there! So, yes - I've heard of the Carver Center!

Isn't it funny that I met a man that someone here knows. I am glad he's well respected. He's certainly a good actor, from what I saw last night.

I've been to Kzoo plenty of times. It's a fun lil town in Sw Michigan.

I've been to Kalamazoo. I was there last July Never been to the Carver Center though.

Kalamazoo is 40 minutes away from me.

My DS's girlfriend goes to college there so he goes over there ALL the time.

I lived in Kalamazoo for 8 months and I never heard of the Carver Center. The University in Kalamazoo is Western Michigan University ( W.M.U.). They have a very nice theatre facility, but I don't think that is the Carver Center.
