Hello DIS friends,

A friend of mine was telling me all about this new place for tween girls -- PINK, PINK, PINK where yoiu can create your own perfume, lip gloss and makeover.

Anyone been -- the nearest one to me is in the King of Prussa Mall, Pennsylvania about an hour away. It sounds so tempting that I'd love to go with my girl.

I was just on their website not half an hour ago. We are going to Disneyland :cool1: Sunday and taking a friend of my daughters. I was wondering how long it takes to do the updo and if anyone elses daughters loved it. I am thinking of making reservations to do it.

My dd had her birthday party there 2 years ago when she turned 8. It was fabulous! The girls were so covered in pink and glitter and they had a wonderful time! To do one updo doesn't take very long, they are quite proficient at it. I'd bet about 20 minutes.

Well I called. It takes 20 minutes to do the updo. They are booked for the next 3 months on weekends for appts at the Downtown Disney store but have plenty of room for walk ins they said. The prices are little higher then what is on their website. 25 to 35. I think we are going to go for it.

Theres one near me thats been open for a few years now. There are always a ton of girls in there having a blast, singing and dancing. The whole side of the mall can hear it!

I took my DBF's neices in there one time, they wanted everything, except to leave! :goodvibes

A new mall just opened here with one of those stores in it. DD8 loves to go in there! We haven't bought anything yet but she likes to look. We may have her birthday party there.

There is one in the mall near us. Both my dd's (7 and 9) LOVE to go in there. They have all kinds of girly stuff - purses, pillows, etc, in addition to the lip gloss, body lotions, etc. DD is thinking about having her birthday party there. They look like tons of fun.

I lucked out the last time I went in there and the purses that are regularly $15 (that DD just HAD to have...so I paid $15 for it for her birthday last year) were on special for $5. Yep 60% off. Every little girl on my Christmas list is getting a purse this year :teeth: (and I have oodles of nieces in that age range, I think I bought 8 purses! yay!)

It's a fun place for girls but either bring lots of $$$ or prepare your dd that you're just going to look and may only buy 1 or 2 things. Sales aren't too common.

Laurie :)

A group of girls from church went. They had a blast! Of course, my dd (11) wouldn't go. No pink & no glitter for her...

A couple of the girls from church slept sitting up in a chair so they wouldn't mess their up-dos up! They were so proud and their hair looked pretty the next day (Sunday).

We've been to a couple of them that a little over an hour from us. My DD7 LOVES this place! One year my SIS and niece and us did a Mom and Me Makeover. The mom's got dolled up and updo's too. I don't think it was much more than the price for one. I've also been contemplating a BDay there but we'll have to see!

Unfortunately, there is one at a mall near us. The Girl Scout troop elected to go there and spend cookie money last year. I survived (barely). I'm not a make-up, glitter, hair do kind of person, and perfume gives me a killer headache! Plus the store is really small and cramped. My DD, 10, is already too concerned with how she looks, and that kind of place makes her worse.

I hate that store with a firey passion. I have seen four and five year olds come out of there with skimpy little outfits on, make-up, and fake hair.

I can't use the names we call it on a family board. The one at our mall is next to the lego store, both stores give me a headache, but at least the kids at the lego store aren't coming out looking like they're ready for the nearest street corner. :rolleyes1

We went to the one at the MOA last year and DDs bought a mix of something they made, but I was unimpressed. It looked like a Bratz store to me (and was brimming with real life versions). Lots of hoochie among the sweet and sparkly.

We went to the one in Orlando last year, too, and that one was just a MESS. Cramped, LOUD, and messy. DDs didn't even want to stay long enough to make a mix. We went to the Playmobil store instead.

It isn't the store that makes them wear the skimpy outfits...it's the parents that let them. My DD has NEVER worn a skimpy outfit to or from that store. Since when is having your hair all dolled up and glitter on a horrible thing.

It's not just for the tweens...a couple of weeks ago we were at the nearest store, 2 hours away, with my sister, her daughter and two grand-daughters...OMG! I think the 2 year old was worse than the 7 year old...it was hilarious!!! Now, the 2 year old loves her purses and her baby dolls, so all the girly stuff is right up her alley...think adorable Ruth Buzzie from the old Laugh In show. Little Miss had to have a itty bitty pink purse with a cute little kitty on it...her 7 year old sister got one exactly like it. The girls were having a blast looking at the stuff.

Personally though, I'm so thankful that I've got a son and we don't have to worry about all the fru-fru girly stuff since when I was 10 and given the chance to redecorate my bedroom in all pink, I told my mom that I didn't want any girly stuff in my bedroom and chose lime green....OMG I just realized I was a DISser even then....back in 1976!

:rotfl: And back in 1976 my favorite pants were lime green cordouroy hip-huggers....who knew? :rotfl2:

We just had my DD6 birthday party there!!!! Her and her friends loved it....it was so cute. Of course, they are all very girly-girl....love the glitter, and all that stuff! After the entire party had their hair, amkeup, and nails done...they danced around the store and sang the song "What I like about you..."....they all had a blast!!!!!

My niece and sister love that store. DD hasn't said anything about it yet. That might be a good Mommy daughter day.

eeyore kelly - Not sure if the BR location is going to be around much longer. Unless there's another one in town, or they've opened up a stand-alone, I'm presuming the one in McRae's at the mall on Bluebonnet will close when McRae's shuts down right around Thanksgiving.

I was going to post the same thing. Funny, ours is nex to a Lego store too...

I saw a birthday party going on a while back an all the little girls were in the front of the store doing a little brittney spears number :earseek: You will NEVER catch my daughter there (praying for all boys!!)

Thanks for the heads up. I have been stuck with my nose so far in my school books, that I am out of the loop.
