Ever been to a newly opened Disneyland ride?

Do AP holders get priority access to the new rides when they open? I am going in late June and I heard that AP holders get priority access. Is that true?

AP holders don't get any perks as far as special queueing rights.

Wouldn't that be nice! We don't even get special parking.:rotfl2:Last I heard there were over 1 million APH.

Maybe you heard about the AP preview event? That's a contest that they should be announcing the winners tomorrow (the 16th). We won tickets to TSMM AP preview event and it was great. We rode 7 times that day.;)

We were at DLR in August of 1987 and so excited to ride the new Star Tours. :thumbsup2 This was our first trip in about 13 years. I just googled Star Tours and the opening date was Jan 9 which, judging from the lines at the time, I certainly would not have guessed. The lines were 3-4 hours for Star Tours while we were there. Of course this is before the days of fastpass. As a teenager, I was ok with the line (well, not ok, but I didn't consider NOT riding due to the line). Today, I don't think I would wait in line for 3-4 hours for any ride. And I am really excited about the new version of Star Tours! But, I also don't look forward to going to DLR in August (FEB/MAR is more my time) so things do change.

I have a different question. As a big Star Wars geek, I'd like to see the opening day festivities and since I'm an AP holder, I'm not worried if I only get to experience Star Tours that day.

Will it be possible for me to the see the grand opening festivities of the new Star Tours or is that only available for the media?

Me and my family will be making our first (only?) DLR trip 10 days after ST and LMUA open. My strategy will be to try and score some FPs for ST at some point during our four days in the parks. But if I miss out on one or even both attractions I know for certain that we will be going back to WDW soon and often, and clones of both attractions await (or soon will) there.

I am hoping that the two new attractions are such crowd-magnets that we can enjoy shorter than ordinary waits for the many other attractions we are looking forward to.

How crowded do you think these lines will be in late Sept. and Oct.? Still around the 1 hr+ mark?

Thanks for the advice everyone! I will probably wait a few weeks to go to Little Mermaid with the gf, but I am still flirting with the idea of going to Star Tours after work on 6/3 (If I get out on time.) What do you guys think about soft opens? Is it worth planning a special trip just because you heard there might be one?

Do you hope to ride it that night? I heard FPs won't even be going the first day or so. If you only stand in that line for the night you'll get to ride but you may be in line all night.

We were there for the opening day(s) of Toy Story Mania, and despite trying several times over a few days, we just couldn't get on it. The line wrapped all along the water front area to get on--and the ride kept breaking down so the waits were even longer. I felt sorry for the little kids I saw in line in the hot sun each day. We figured we would be back, and would ride it our next trip, and that is exactly what we did.

I remember hearing that the line was 4-5 hours long most days of our stay that trip.

It was by chance that we were there for the opening day of TSM too. We ran, with thousands of other people, to the ride and we all bottlenecked into the ride queue. We got on the ride after 30 minutes. When we exited the ride, the line was already a 3-hour wait! :scared1:

We are going to be there from the 2-7 of June and I'm really hoping that these two rides draw the crowds away from the other rides. We have no interest in Star Tours, but we are playing around with the idea of trying to get onto Little Mermaid one of the days we are there.

I would have chosen to go a week earlier if I had known about the openings. I'm kinda hoping that we can get onto TSM pretty easily as we have only been on it once and the wait when we were there last was over 50 minutes every time we went by it.

I remember being there about a month after Splash opened (which was in July 1989 :scared1:) and I specifically remember the line being nearly four hours long.

One thing you have to remember, if you plan on waiting in line for that long, make sure to use the restroom first, don't forget sunscreen, make sure that you have something to keep you hydrated (especially during the warm summer days) and something to keep you occupied for that length of time. :thumbsup2
