I leave on Friday and I am sick as a dog. My son was sick last week so I am hoping it is just going to pass through my system quickly.

I started feeling bad Monday, now it is Wednesday and we leave Friday. And I am at work to get some extra hours in so we have some extra cash on our trip.

Anywho-how many of you have been sick on your vacation and how badly was it affected?

Thanks for answering my questions.

thats what you get for bragging about living in Fla :teeth:

My DD came down with mono the first day of a trip we took a few years ago. We went away for a week and she had a sore throat the first day. She lasted through the second day and then spent the rest of the vacation in bed. My DH took the other kids out and I just sat out on the balcony reading while my DD slept. It was relaxing at least.

I hope you're feeling better.

Just a few weeks ago I was on our California trip. I slept more than normal, but as long as I took it easy and didn't go commando style I did well.

Never sick before vacaction.

Got sick once ON vacation.

Those WDW maps with restroom locations can be your best pals

Yes the last day of my vacation this past May..I completely passed out and fell on the floor of POFQ!

Anyway, I was on my way to Epcot. All I could do was joke with the Ambulance guys that I had already seen Epcot and I had never seen Celebrations Hospital...so at least it was new!;)

But never before a vacation!

Sorry Pop Daddy!

I don't like living here if it is any consolation to you. I used to live in Southern Cali-I would much rather live there.

Well, I hope NyQuil & Dayquil help me out this weekend.

that does help a little :teeth:

I came down with some funky infection on the flight out to Vegas last Christmas.

For the first few days, I managed ok....saw some shows but was usually too tired to stay up too late.

By the end tho, I was too tired to do too much at all...which was a shame because I know DH would have like to have seen "Skintight" again

The flight home was also rough.

Would I do it again?

Yup

Yes, I got sick on a New Year's cruise my husband and I went on in 98'.

I got food poisioning AND we had high seas at the same time! :crazy2:

I was out 5 days out of our seven day cruise! And, the worst part was that my husband and I were toasting the new year with soda crackers and water...we could hear the people up on deck having a blast!

And, here I am actually considering another cruise this November!

I came down with a cold just before we flew to Florida a couple of years ago and was just miserable on the plane, especially my plugged up ears!!! Once I got there, tho, the heat zapped the cold out of me. It was June!!

But other than that, I've been fine. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow's trip!!!

Hope you're feeling better real soon!!

Once on a business triup to ANaheim for a week-long conference, I took my wife and then two-year old son with me. I took a week's vacation and stayed an extra week, so that we could do Disneyland and some other sights. After the first three days spent at DL, I came down with the Asiatic flu and spent the rest of the week in the motel room. And flying home was no picnic either, as I was still clogged up.

And another time, on a trip to Lake George, my daughter got the chicken pox. We had a nice housekeeping unit and my family would go out for dinner every night and I'd stay back with my daughter. Everyone thought I was such a great guy for making the sacrifice, but the truth is, give me a book and a quiet place and I'm happy :)

We were at WDW at the end of May...I started feeling bad on Monday and really sick on Tues. I hardly ate the rest of the week but it saved me a ton of money.

Last June my son starting vomiting on the first day 4 hours from home. The next day DH vomited. The third day I started. We only missed a little of the vacation but the good part was since I was sick I read the entire 5th Harry Potter book in a day.....this was the day after it was released.

DS had a double ear infection when he was 11 months old and we were at WDW. One day on meds and he was doing fine.

A few years ago we were going to New Hampshire for a week. DS had a very slight fever two days before and I sent him to school (very bad mom) because he was going to miss the next week of school. I had to pick him up and take him to the Doc. and he had strep throat but the doctor said that he would be fine in a day or two and would be able to ski. We went to NH and 2days later I ended up in bed with a 103/104 fever for the next 4 days. It worked out ok for the rest of them since I am the one who doesn't ski and they all did. But, no one even made me a cup of soup the whole time.

I got a very nasty cold on a WDW trip a few years back. I was miserable and ended up spending 2 days just lounging around the resort because I felt so cruddy. The rest of the trip was fun, though.

Once I did get sick on a flight  Now there is no fun in trying to hug the "plastic god" in a 2 foot by 2 foot room.
Yeah I could have used the bags, but I had made puppets out of them.

Last year was my first being sick - I had a sinus infection. I was pretty much getting back to normal by our first full day there.

DH, on the other hand, was worse and we ended up taking him to Celebration Hospital. They are wonderful there. DH was down for about 2 days before he felt like even going out - over all it didn't ruin our vacation.

I just recommend - if you are not feeling well, sleep in and take it easy. The harder you push yourself, the longer it may take to get well. Plus, you will be miserable!!

Been sick twice while away from home.

The first was on a business trip to California. The night I got there I went out to eat a burger and from then on I was so sick, day and night. I was there for training classes and had to get up every so often to run to the bathroom. Stuff was coming out both ends. After class all of us went out to eat and sightsee and I joined in. I wasn't about to stay in my room and miss out. By the end of the trip I was fine.

A couple years ago I ended up with a bad sinus infection, made worse by my trip to Orlando. I woke up one morning with a fever and dehydration days before I was to go home. I dreaded the plane trip back.

Yup, yup. DH got REALLY sick 3 years ago when we were at WDW. High fever, vomiting. Totally ruined his trip. Got to visit the walk in clinic not far from Fort Wilderness and we met a really nice CM there.
