Ever accidentally over-tip?

Just last night I was paying for a large business dinner - it was $1,500 and I wrote in a $300 tip. Luckily the waiter came back and told me that a 20% tip was already included in the $1,500 (but he, of course, said that we could add more at our discretion). Yeah, I don't think the service was good enough for a 40% tip. I don't know how I would have explained that to Accounting!

Yes, in Madrid. It was the converting to pesetas that threw me off. In all honesty, it was my friend's fault. I asked her to just give me a minute to figure everything out more accurrately, but she was all, "No, just give them this much, it doesn't matter!" To two teenagers in Spain on a limited budget, heck yes it mattered!

In my opinion, DH always over-tips, but at least he's doing it on purpose.

I wasn't quite 8 months pregnant when I went out with the office for a going away party for one of the attorneys. One of my co-workers thought the waiter was just so adorable and she had been drinking a little - not drunk by any means, but a little tipsy. She then proceeded to give him a huge tip on her credit card; I was teasing her about it. Suddenly, we realized the waiter got mine and her credit card mixed up and she put the huge tip on MY credit card. I acted all shocked and appalled, but we all had a big laugh and she paid me in cash to make up for it. :thumbsup2

I then went into labor that night 4.5 weeks early. Everyone swears to this day it was due to the trauma of her overtipping on my card. Apparently I am known for my frugality.
