OK here's the deal - flying out preferably from Glasgow on the 24th September for 14 nights so I just need to try and track down the best deals flight wise and accomodation wise.

Flights from Expedia seem to be around £1400 for a family of 3 (2 adults and 1 child) but are there any cheaper places to look or is this a "fair" price?

I have been slightly held up booking as wanted to get clearance from the school to take my son out for a couple of weeks - I started a new job about 6 months ago and this is the 1st opportunity that I have had to take a holiday :)

As to accomodation I think we will be spending the 1st 6 nights at a Disney resort and then not sure what to do - maybe a Universal resort or the Radisson Parkway looks good - has anyone stayed here?

Thanks for any guidance you can give me guys - if I have missed out any details (probably) then let me know!

Travel City have that date flydrive incl of car with all insurance from Gatwick for £1237.

Be quick though, they appear to have a hotel for £170 too but it comes up with system error. Give them a ring. You should be able to get to Gatwick with one of the low cost carriers for around £100 ish.

Good luck.

You would probably get a really good deal on a villa booking so last minute try Orlando4villas.com or Floridavillas, or villas2000.
It is worth staying at universal for the FOTL passes which bypass the regular queues.just 1/2 nigths should be enough.

Thanks guys - here's a quick question. If I book flights and get to MCO, if I don't have a hire car initially what is the best way to get to Disney from the airport?

Hi,

If you go ahead with the expedia booking, cost up a hire car at the same time.

When we booked our flights for October we got a price for flight only and then got a price for flights plus car (we chose Avis, but they had Dollar as well!). The difference (for nearly 3 weeks) was only £180ish and that includes all the insurances etc.

I doubt anyone would be able to find car hire in Florida for a full-size car, fully insured for nearly 3 weeks for less than that!

Hope this helps,

Michelle

Well that the flights sorted out - flying out 24th September for 14 nights with US Airways - have bought the theme park tickets from orlandoticketdeals which seemed to offer the best rates and also booked the 1st 6 nights at Disney All Star Movies :)

Now just need to decide where to stay for the next 8 nights - would love to stay at a Universal resort for FOTL but how can I get the best rates?

Also not sure how to put a counter on!!

The reason I don't want to get a car is because my wife can't read maps and her sense of direction is worse than terrible - she even gets mixed up between left and right :)

If I don't have someone guiding me in the car, it would all end in tears and arguments!

I have changed my mind again and I am going to get a car - it will give us much more freedom in my opinion :) So the question is what is the easiest way to get from MCO to All Star Movies - will I need toll money? A lot of people seem to say that the most difficult bit is getting out of the airport!
