Hi all!

So we are just planning our trip and when we should go. It will have to be sometime this July. Would anyone have any recommendations as to what the best week would be? I heard around the July 4th, its crazy so I was thinking to avoid that, but sounds like towards the end of July its starts getting busier and busier? So I was thinking July 13-20, but the actual 60th anniversary is July 17. Is there anything going on for the actual day?

Thanks for any help!

We are going on the actual day, July 17 and we plan on the park being packed and suspect we will need to be at the gates at least an hour before opening. Thats just what we are expecting.

As the PP said, the guess at this point is that the actual anniversary date (July 17th) will be very busy. Given that is a Friday, I expect the crowds to spill over to the weekend days as well. They have not yet announced any special activities/events for the actual anniversary day, but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear anything until much closer to the actual date. If you're looking to minimize crowds as much as possible, but still go in July, I would avoid the anniversary weekend and the weekend associated with July 4th.

Thanks for the tips! Would Monday July 6th - July 13 be ok? Or is July 6th a holiday because of July 4th?

If I had to guess. You can expect guests to be allowed to park overnight and line up at the entrance to Disneyland hours before it opens on the 17th.

For the 50th, we were lined up 2 hours before the park opened in DTD. The esplanade and DCA were already full of people who had camped out. We were not in the park at opening, we were still in line. You'll be ok arriving an hour early, but you won't be at the gates, you'll be in a crowd control somewhere outside the esplanade.

I couldn't find it to link, but somewhere on the parks blog recently they mentioned more summer events. As an example, last year they did a promotion called Get Happier Mondays. The year before it was Limited Time Magic. You probably aren't going to find 8 straight days without some kind of micro event happening. If arriving on the 6th works best for you, then do it.

Thanks, I appreciate the information we will keep that in mind. I am so excited!

When I was there for the 50th on 7/17/05, I lined up at 2am. When we left the park the night before at 11pm, people were already lining up.......at 2Am, we were 12,000th in line. We got to line up and wait in DCA. The line snaked all through the park. It was awesome! So fun, everyone was excited. Got to see the sunrise over the park. I remember the mass of people in the esplande as they let us in the gates. I am hoping they do something similar for the 60th ;)
