Evening Magic Hours for Deluxe Guests Only

Two nights a week makes sense. I really don’t expect it to be most nights as the PP said. Wondering which parks will be included/ excluded.

Well, we know that it won’t be on Boo Bash or holiday party nights, at least in MK; that would be unworkable. They could always just do it in other parks on those nights, although the only other park where extended evening hours really makes a difference is HS. I suppose you could take advantage of extended evening hours in Epcot to do Test Track, Frozen, and the new Ratatouille ride. I really don’t think most people would take advantage of it in AK. I could imagine us doing it once, to do Avatar, see Pandora at night, and maybe do a Tiffins dinner. It would probably be a one and done. Whereas I will always want access to MK with low crowd levels.

I am hoping that AK is included, especially since they close it so early. I want to see Pandora and the tree at night. Now, if they extend AK hours to just 7pm normally, then it’s not necessary to have EMH. I don’t need it at Epcot, but MK and DHS would be great.

One question: You don’t need to sign up specifically for this, right? You’re automatically guaranteed to get it if you’re a deluxe resort guest, right?

The info on the Disney website says you need a park reservation, a park hopper pass or AP (if you went to a different park earlier in the day). But other that that, there is no other special sign up as far as we know.

It’s not about being punitive to families with children; it’s the fact that Disney is expensive. If you can afford it, going with or without kids is no problem. The added expense of a kid isn’t an issue if you have the money to do a Disney trip.

Is it fair that Disney is expensive? I guess not, but life isn’t fair. Disney has never been cheap.
I didn’t say that thinking it would be assumed it was about money.

On deluxe EMH nights once the park closes for general entry wouldn’t you be able to hop in since there aren’t enough deluxe guests to hit capacity? It wouldn’t necessarily be entry at 2 pm if there were capacity closures, but wouldn’t entry for deluxe guests open up at whatever time the park officially closes?
Only if they have park hopper tickets. That was stated in the announcement. If the Deluxe/Deluxe Villa guest has base tickets and the evening extra hours park is not the one that they had reserved for the day, then they cannot take advantage of the extra hours.

Wait so you can’t park hop into a park for extended evening hours? You have to have a park reservation for that park?

Or are you just saying that without park hopper, the person has to have a park reservation for that park?

No, I'm saying that you need to either:
  • have a base ticket and reserve the extra hours park for that day
OR
  • have a park hopper/annual pass

The bolded is correct. The EMH park has to either be your reserved park that day OR you need a park hopper/ AP.

It will certainly water down the benefit of emh and it’s really lousy that off site hotels get a perk on site hotels don’t. That has to be a first and a new low.

Swan and Dolphin isn’t really off site and has always been treated as a de facto deluxe resort. So much so that it’s listed on the WDW official website and is categorized as a deluxe resort.

They get the Epcot area friendship boats as a transportation option also. That makes them very much feel like more of an actual Disney resort.

I think Swan and Dolphin is one of Disney’s greatest hidden gems. If we weren’t DVC, we’d stay there all the time. You get pretty much all the benefits of a deluxe resort at a fraction of the price. I just look up rooms for the week of Thanksgiving — they have plenty of availability and it’s $300/night.
