What time can the average (non-resort) person stay until in MK when MK has EMH in the evening, and WDW lists the park as being open until midnight?

Has anyone experienced what the MK evening crowds are like? We plan on being there this Friday night, the 16th.

You can stay until the park closes. If the official park closing time is 12 midnight, Emh will run until 3am. You can stay until 3am, but if you are not resort guests you can't go on any of the rides.

Emh at MK is usually really crowded. Lots of people will go somewhere else during the day and head over to MK at night since it's open till 3am.

The average person can stay in the MK until the park "officially" closes. On the 16th, the park closes to the general public at midnight, but resort guests can stay until 3 a.m.

Park attendance is notoriously busy on EMH evenings. We avoided the parks on those days due to the long lines.

Technically, you are supposed to leave the park upon 'official' park closing. If the park closes at midnight, then you should be on the way to the exit at that point. If there are EMHs to follow at this point leaving MK open until 3 am, then only resort guests 'should' be in the park. However, I have seen non-resort guests lingering in the park after that official closing time. But, they are not allowed on any attractions..you have to show your wristband for that. I guess if you just wanted to shop or 'soak up the atmosphere' I guess you could.
For those of you who are going to jump in and say..'But they never check wristbands'...just let me say that I was asked to show my wristband at every EMH attraction I was at last May. There was a family in front of me, just after park closing, waiting for an attraction to start loading. When asked to show their EMH wristbands they had no idea what the CM was talking about. The CM asked me to show them my band, I did, and they said that they were not staying in WDW and had to leave tomorrow so needed to do this ride now!!! The CM turned them away, as he did several others, telling them it was a special perk for those staying on-site with Disney and Mickey Mouse. One little boy said, as he walked away with his parents..."See, I told you we should stay with Mickey!!!!"

If the hours are listed 'til midnight, ALL guests can enter attracttion queues up until midnight.

After that time, only guests that have EMH wrist-bands can enter the attraction queues and ride.

All those without the wrist-bands can stay in the park, but not ride the attractions.
There are no "non-WDW resort guest" BLOODHOUNDS deployed to sniff-out those w/o the wrist-bands... its just not as much fun to stay, if you can't ride anything.

Here's how EMH works for all parks.

Look up the POSTED open and close times for any day, any park.
Only WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed EHM privileges and it COSTS NOTHING EXTRA to attend the EMHs.
There are slightly different situations for MORNING and EVENING EMH's.

-------MORNING EMH FACTS--------------------------------------
If it is a MORNING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed entry to THAT park on THAT day starting ONE HOUR before the posted opening time.
At least ONE person in your party should have a room key-card with them (sometimes EACH person needs to show one) to verify your current hotel status and gain entry.
So, only WDW resort guests will be ALLOWED INTO the park.
Once inside, only selected attractions will be open.
See the official WDW website for the latest attractions that will be open during EMH.

-------EVENING EMH FACTS--------------------------------------
If it is a EVENING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed to stay and ride attractions at THAT park on THAT day for THREE HOURS after the posted closing time. (Don't worry that the site says, "UP TO 3 hours." Thats just legalese... EMH will be 3 hours in the evening.)
You do NOT have to be in the park BEFORE scheduled closing time.
You CAN enter the park at any time during EMH and still get a wrist-band.
You can leave and re-enter the park at will (just like any normal time).

(So, YES, if MK is sched. to close at midnight, the EMH will run til 3AM! Yep, that's 3 in the morning. No, its not a mistake, that would be 3 full hours after the posted time. 3AM for a posted 12mid close-time. 3AM, yes sir!)

EACH guest (except for very small children) will need to show a room key-card to a CM* at special "EMH kiosks" set up in various locations throughout the park, and a wristband will be snapped on by the CM to each adult and child. Children older than 3 years old will be issued a room key when you check in if they are listed on your ressie. If they are not listed you will have problems... if they don't get issued a room key.
So make SURE the check-in desk issues each one a room-card.
With each room-key, a guest will be issued a wrist-band (it will actually be put on your wrist BY a CM).
The ride CMs will then check for these wrist-bands at each attraction before allowing guests to enter the queue.
So, even though non-resort guests may still be INSIDE the park, only those with wrist-bands will be allowed to ride any open EMH attractions.
See the official WDW website for the latest attractions that will be open during EMH.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
You can enter the parks for EMH EVENINGS anytime... during "regular" hours, or even during the actual extended EMH hours.
This 1-hour morning EMH and 3-hour evening EMH rule applies at all 4 parks. Enjoy!

I just want to say that this was true last week when we were there, too. Even at the start of the line waiting to get in, CMs were posted there making sure everyone had a wrist band, and again at the actual point of getting on the line, the CMs there looked for them. I really liked that they did because the line for Peter Pan is always long. Before EMH, it was over an hour, but after Wishes, we had to wait only 20 minutes and everyone in line with us had wrist bands. EMH is one of my favorite benefits of staying at a WDW resort.
