Evening Extra Magic Hours

I was just wondering how the Extra magic hours at night work. From what I understand we are supposed to get a wrist band? Where do I get them? Can I get them right when we get there? How late do the parks stay open? Is there a charge for this?

You need to get a wristband at the park for late EMH. There are CMs at the front of each park, but there are lots of other places inside the park too. There was a huge line for wristbands at EPCOT right out front, so we asked a CM where else to go. They were happy to tell us the other spots. Sure enough, found another one with nobody waiting in line. Same thing at MK. Long lines. Ask a CM if you need to. No charge for EMHs. Whatever the scheduled closing time is, EHM is 3 hours later. So if the park closes at 11:00, EMHs are until 2:00 a.m. We have done these. Very fun!!!!

Everyone in your party must have a room ID, unless they are under 3 yrs old. Usually they will scan the room ID and then give you a wrist band. They have spots throughout the park where they give out the wrist bands and they start giving them out about 2-3 hours before the park closes. Your resort will have the information about EMH when you check in.

We are going with two people that won't be staying in the resort, but we are all going to the parks together. If there are 6 of us, and only 4 with room keys, what are our options?

Can the four people that want to ride the attractions just get the wristbands, and the other two watch?

Can we re-use the room key for the other two people, or do they scan them and only allow one scan per card?

Can you add on the two additional people, since they have no need to stay in the resort, but want to come to the parks with us?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Unfortunately for you, this is a perk for resort guests only. That's why you have to have a room ID. They scan them and the resort ID can only be used once to get a wrist band.

On another thread, someone mentioned that without a wristband, a guest cannot even purchase food, beverages or goods.

So if they just hung around the park while we rode the rides, it wouldn't matter? As long as they didn't try and ride things, or try to purchase things?

Non Disney resort guests are not required to leave the evening EMH park. They just cannot ride the attractions.
Personally I do not believe that non-Disney resort guests cannot purchase items in the EMH park. I cannot see Disney (or any other company) turning down money. I seriously doubt that the stores and food carts look to see if someone has a wristband. The ride operators most certainly do check and double check. I have seen people asked to leave the line because they did not have wristbands.

So EMH are three hours longer at night!!! Loving that!!!!

do you find that evening extra magic hours are still really crowded? or is it worth the late night to get to ride the super headliner rides? also, are extra magic hours a pretty regular occurence? (i.e. does one park stay open late every night?)

we went to evening EMH at the Magic Kingdom on January 15.... a group of 21 as it turns out, 1 person forgot their room key (in spite of my constant reminders to bring it ). we explained our situation to the CMs that were passing out the wristbands, and they told us that our friend wouldn't be asked to leave, but could not ride anything without a wristband. we double checked that she would not be asked to leave the park if she didn't have a wristband, and was given the same answer from 2 different CMs. lucky for us, we had one person in our group that wasn't a rider...so everyone that wanted to ride was able to ride.

There was a park with EMH evening hours every night while we were there. We found that they were more crowded, and it was the only time we had to wait in long lines - we went in the off season. I personally found the lines too long, and prefered the EMH mornings when there was no waits anywhere until the park had been open to the general public a couple of hours.

My family are early risers and I think next time we aren't even going to try the evening EMH...just take advantage of the morning ones and have some pool time in the evenings.

I just have one more question...are there only a limited numbre of wrist bands each night and it is a first come first serve situation, or are we guaranteed to ride since we are resort guests?
