Evening Extra Magic Hours - or not?

I'm heading to WDW on a solo trip Mar. 5-10. I wanted to hit up Flower and Garden and the Magic Kingdom After Hours, so that gets me both of those - and only a week before my birthday :)

What I'm wondering is whether I should stay for the evening Extra Magic Hours or avoid that park that day altogether? Two of the nights that I'll be there - Epcot on 3/7 and MK on 3/8 - there are 2 hours of EMH at night. So I was thinking about going to those parks those days and hanging around for the EMH afterwards.

From previous experience, though staying off-resort so no EMH for me, once the fireworks go off in any park, it's a mad rush for the gates for a huge number of guests - especially those with younger ones. So I was thinking that night time EMH should be pretty empty, right? I've done some research on good-ol'-Google, and saw more than a few reports of "don't ever go to night time EMH, it's a stinkin' zoo!!!"

Does anyone have any experience with whether to go for EMH or avoid altogether? I'm setting up my FPs Wed. morning, so... kind of last minute, I know. That's kind of been the story of this trip - completely spontaneous and a bit last minute :)

I'd avoid evening EMH. We generally avoid any park that has EMH, but on the rare occasion we do take advantage of it, it's only AM EMH.

You'll be there during Spring Break season. Some schools have off in March, others in April. With F&G pulling extra people into EP, I'd definitely skip EMH there.

Yeah, I think you're probably right. I'll just swap those two days in the plans, and it should be good!

Thanks!

Evening EMH is awesome at MK. It thins out surprisingly quickly. I've done it during a packed Memorial Day weekend and by the end headliners were walk ons. Evening EMH at Epcot is awesome for romantically strolling World Showcase. The people who think evening EMH is a zoo are people who probably leave very early. Don't be one of those people.

Is everything at MK open late on those days? We are staying late on one of our days at the end of the month.

We were there the week before Christmas and MK had EMH until 2 am, regular closing at midnight. We got there just when the fireworks were starting and by the time the bus parked and we walked to the park and through security, the FWs were over. Huge mistake trying to swim upriver with everyone leaving, we should have just sat at the RR station and waited. After we got through the mad house of main street, we had no problems riding rides, some already had lines that had started before park close so they were a little bit of a wait (20 min.) but after that, it was all very easy. We love evening EMHs, we go and ride just about every ride we want to ride then our days are just bonus time to either shop or ride something again or just hang out.
