evening EMH at Epcot - closing time?

Hi
For our trip this June, we arrive on a day when Epcot has evening EMH hours. We will arrive at the resort around 8 pm. I am wondering if it will be worth it to go to Epcot. When Epcot has evening EMH hours, what is the closing time? Is it the same closing time for both Future World and World Showcase, or does each part close 3 hours after it's normal closing time? Since Future World closes before World Showcase, I'm confused.

Thanks
WisMom

Hi there! We were just at the world at the beginning of the month. We did Epcot on the evening EMH. Future World had the same late hours as World Showcase - they were both open till midnite (or 1am, I can't remember which). Point is that technically FW stayed open the whole time. As far as wheteher it's worth it, I guess it depends on how tired you are when you check in. We really enjoyed the low crowds, hardly anyone in WS. My 6 yo was able to do the mask thing at the countries with little or no wait at the art centers. There were plenty of places open to eat - we did Morocco counter service. Really a beautiful night. Have Fun!!

So both Future World and World Showcase stay open 3 hours later than the normal World Showcase closing time? I assumed that each part's hours were pushed back 3 hours- is that not the case?

In other words, in early June Future World is supposed to close at 7:00 p.m., and World Showcase is supposed to close at 10:00 p.m. So, during EMH, ALL of Epcot is open until 1:00 a.m.?

Not ALL of ANY park is "open" during any EMH.
But "selected attractions" at both FW and WS are open for the 3 hours of evening EMH... STARTING at the WS closing time.

So in your example of 10pm, both WS and FW selected attractions would indeed be open until 1am.

I did know about the limited attractions during EMH- I just thought that Future World would still close earlier. But if Epcot's EMH attractions- like Soarin' and Test Track- are open until 1:00 a.m. instead of 10:00 a.m., that makes a big difference to me!

One other question for those Epcot Experts - and I apologize if I am hijacking this thread, but it seems to be a natural followup to the OP's question- but what exactly is open in World Showcase during EMH? I've seen lists of Epcot's EMH attractions- Melstrom and Rio del Tiempo. However, it just seems weird to me that those two things are the only parts of World Showcase that are open during EMH. Are World Showcase's shops, restaurants, etc. open during EMH?

The American Adventure is the other attraction that is usually operating (limited number of performances).

Many here have posted that several of the shops are open in various countries' pavilions, along with the Kidcot stations, and several restaurants.

Back to FW "closing" at 7pm.
Even though many of the rides do close at 7, there are several attractions that DON'T (even normally) close until 9pm every day.
There are signs posted at the attractions, and the electronic animated "call-board" near the Fountain and Innoventions shows the status of these "open-late" FW attractions.

Its common for Soarin', Mission Space, Test Track, and Space Ship Earth to be open until IllumiNations begins.
Guests in the queue by 9pm will be still allowed to ride, even after 9pm.

Just make sure that you remember that for just those 5 hours @ Epcot only, you will use one of the days of you MYW pass.

This confusion over the closing time of Epcot comes up every few weeks. Although Future World "officially" closes at 7:00pm most nights, many of the popular attractions like TT, MS, Soarin', and Spaceship Earth remain open until 9:00pm (or the closing time of WS if it is later than 9pm) every night of the year. The evening EMH then starts for both sides at 9:00pm...or the closing time of FW, whichever is later.

FW?

Don't you mean WS?

I visited Epcot during Extra Magic Hours this past Friday (March 17), and can advise you that both parts of Epcot remained open until midnight. The crowds were HUGE however, and wait times for several attractions were quite long.

Several attractions remained open for the extra hours, including the American Adventure, the River of Time boat ride and Maelstrom - all in the World Showcase.

All of the rides in front part of Epcot - Test Track, Soarin' and all the others were open, although Test Track did have a breakdown during the late hours.

I probably made a mistake in planning a visit to Epcot when I did however. I drove down to WDW on Friday morning (about a five hour drive from Tallahassee), checked into my resort, attended an afternoon baseball game - sitting in the sun on a warm day - went back to the resort and moved my luggage into my room, which was ready for me by that time, enjoyed a quick shower, and then took the bus to Epcot, where I had an 8:00 pm dinner reservation at the San Angel Inn. Excellent meal, and I enjoyed seeing IllumiNations after the meal. But then, as I began to walk around the park, I ran out of steam.

Epcot involves plenty of walking as attractions are spaced far apart, so I would not recommend attending extra hour late at night unless you are well rested ahead of time. When I plan my next solo trip (in Nov. or Dec.) I will allow more time, and not try to cram too much into one day.

Enjoy.

Thanks all for the information, this is exactly what I was looking for. We will probably "plaly it by ear" and see how much energy we have. We are staying for a week so the cost of a 7 day ticket vs. 6 is not a big deal for us. During our last visit we didn't see a single night time show because it poured buckets almost every night. So if the weather is good, we may try to get to one of the parks just for the nighttime show or fireworks. I have a teen who loves to stay up late. Me? I prefer to hit the sack and get to the parks early. Maybe I can persuade him since he's not a fan of crowds.

Thanks again

Hi Wismom,

where is Oregon, WI? Lived in MN all my life...never heard of it.

When in June ar eyou going down? I have young adults with me too on our May trip. They'll want to be out late and I'll want to get up crack of dawn!

That's why we are staying onsite, so everyone's happy!

herc.

Hi Heracamore
Oregon is a small suburb of Madison - so I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it. We are going June 13 thru the 20th and staying at POR. Staying on site will certainly let us split up if we want, another advantage. We are really excited. :yay:
Thanks!

Can a "late entry" ticket be purchased for WDW parks? We are facing this same situation for our upcoming June trip and do not want to waste a full day's pass on a few evening hours. We are planning on going to Downtown Disney that evening as an alternative. But being able to go to a park with a reduced cost entry ticket would be great!

The only "late entry" tickets I have seen have been for Disney Quest. Not sure if they offer this all year though. I was in DTD on March 11th and this type of ticket was offered.

>>> use one of the days

If you spent the day elsewhere (for example at a water park) and arrive just for EMH, you will consume a theme park day off of your pass.

If you had a non-hopping ticket and were at a different theme park for the day, you may not attend EMH without adding hopping for about $43. For the purposes of defining hopping and ticket usage the next business day starts around 4 AM.

If you arrive just in time for a "paid EMH" such as Mickey's Christmas Party, you do not get out your (or need a) regular ticket, you do not consume a park day, and you do not need hopping.

The good part about coming from Wi is you gain an hour. You might be surprised how long your family can last BUT the next morning is UGLY...Think how you feel with the spring time change!!! We usually plan our only slow morning for the day after arrival!!

FYI We were kindof neighbors...use to live in Mt Horeb!!!
