I tried to search the board to see if this has been answered before but couldn’t find an answer. I will be renting an EVC and staying at All Star Music. I will be traveling solo and am wondering what is the best way to hold the room door open so I can drive in and out. I do not want to leave outside overnight. I was reviewing door stoppers and a lot of them say they do t work on wooden floors. Does anyone have any experience/advice? Thanks!

mid you got an accessible room it may have a door opener. Our accessible family suite did. It was very helpful with 2 wheelchairs. Sorry I am not any help for a regular room sadly.

Below is what I use. It folds compact for easy travel and it has a magnet that sticks really well to some of the doors and frames. It’s called a Fat Ivan. I bought a bright color so I had less chance to loose or forget it.

I've even used cheap door stoppers. In that case I use two of them. You do need to find the sweet spot where the stopper stays in place with the door. Floors aren't perfect and it can be a little uneven. There may be a little give but you get enough opening to make it work.

I would invest for a better stopper and you really shouldn't have a problem. It is a little tricky with a heavy door and bending down to place the stopper; just be careful. I use my foot to push the stopper in place better but initially you need to bend and get the stopper in place.

The Fat Ivan magnet may be an easier way to go.

Actually, I would have both to make sure just in case.

I've used rubber door stoppers, but they never work. I haven't tried the WEDGE-IT though. What has worked is a cane, that I carry with me anyways. When entering my room, I'd unlock it and then use the cane to hold it open while I inch myself in. On this last trip, I figured out how to back up its my room. The only problem was when I got fully into the room and had to let the door go. It was hard for me to get up and quickly grab the door so it didn't SLAM shut and disturb all the neighbors. Otherwise, it was just a matter of keeping it super-slow, and inching my way backwards.

I have used both the Stoppy and the Wedge-it. Both work equally well for me, although I have to say that the Wedge-it is now my preferred device to carry to WDW.
