ok I would like to rent my dad an ECV from some company in the area. My problem is I do not think it will fit in the back of our 12 passanger van. (we have a group of 11). What can I do? My dad can not walk from the parking lot to monorail and then into MK. He would be wiped out.. I need help. I called one comapny and they said as long as I have 2 ft in the trunk it should fit. Well last year we rented the 12 passanger van and all I had room for in the trunk was the umbrella stroller.....OH I just do not know what to do.

Are you planning on driving yourself or are you using Disney transportation? If you are using the disney transportation then you should have no problem.

Is there a possibility of getting 2 cars? Maybe one van and one smaller car? This would allow everyone a little more room and give you room for the ECV.

We will be driveing. I dont think we could get to cars.. I have no idea how he is going to walk in to MK

I assume from your post that you will be staying offsite and driving to the parks using the van? Does your have have a Handicap Parking placard? If so, most park have pretty good HC parking, and courtesy wheelchairs for use within the parking lot area. If you don;t see any courtesy parking whelchairs, have someone in your group run ahead and ask about them at one of the gift kiosks outside the parks. They should be able to accomodate you.

However, this doesn't solve your problem with an offsite ECV rental not fitting in your vehicle. I agree, the best way would be to use two vehicles.

If you are staying onsite at Disney, then your group, or part of your group, can use Disney transportation and your Dad can wheel the ECV onto the bus.

Another alternative, though time consuming, would be to make two trips to the parks and make arrangements to meet up with the earlier half of your group inside the park (cell phones or walkie talkies would be handy.)

I have just bought a mobility scooter to take on holiday with us. I was surprised at how easily they dismantle and go into the boot of a car. My seat comes off as do the back wheels, the battery (which is the heaviest part,) can either stay on the main body of the scooter with the handle folded down or it can come out and sit seperately. My scooter easily fits into my mid sized car at home and is easy to transport. I assume that if you rent from one of the offsite suppliers they would deliver it to your accommodation and as long as it dismantles the pieces could be placed onto the floor of the van or under the seats if there is definately no space in the boot of the minivan. Why don't you contact some of the suppliers and ask what type of scooters they have and how easy they are for dismantling and transporting.

If you are staying in one of the Disney hotels just call a local ECV rental place and they will have one available for you at the hotel. I do this every year and find that the prices are equal to or sometimes a little less than renting one when you get into the parks. Also, if you are planning the later, just to let you know that the parks have a limited supply of ECV's and especially at the Magic Kingdom, they do get rented out very early. If you are staying off site, maybe getting two cars or doing the double trip will be needed.
