We will be going in Nov 2008 and my parents are going to have to use an EVC. We have a ADR at HDDR one night. What would be the easiest way for them to get there? I know the boat was a nice ride, but I'm worried about the water level and the wait for the larger boat. Also, I'm remembering when we get off the boat at WL that we walk through sand. (?). Or am I remembering wrong? I don't think the scooter will go through the sand well.

The next thing is the internal bus.

Help with some advice!

First and most important HDDR is NOT at WL it is at Fort Wilderness Resort, sometimes these resorts share a bus/boat, sometimes not. If you are coming from the MK, FW is only serviced by two of the larger boats(cruisers) so you won't need to worry about that. 99% of the time the water level will be fine. The 1% of the time that it won't work, you will need to take a bus(they may have one designated for FW in this case, but probably not). Board the WL bus, when you get to WL you will have to transfer to a FW bus(this runs regularly so you won't have a long wait). The FW bus lets you off about the same distance from the HDDR as the boat would have. If you are coming from any other park, take the bus to FW, when you get to FW you will need to transfer to ANY internal Settlement bus.

OOOPs! Sorry, I knew where it was it just didn't come out right.

Thanks!

We took the bus with my dad's ECV. It worked out fine--no problems. I would take the boat if getting to MK is convenient. We took the boat many times from the YC/BC to DHS and EP--never had one problem with anything--was rather relaxing.

I have a power chair and have taken the boat as I detest getting my chair tied down in the busses and taking the busses would require a bus transfer, thus two tie-downs and bus waits. Since the boat for Ft. Wilderness is much larger than the smaller one going to WL I don't think there are the same issues with water level. Once off the boat there's a paved walkway directly to the HDDR area.---Kathy
