Evan Lyascek is such a class act. I think Mr. Plushenko should take notes. Way to go, Evan! You're an Olympic champion on and OFF the ice! :woohoo:

I agree! Evan didn't do a quad, but his overall program was more difficult and he performed it better than Plushy performed his. There was literally no comparison between the quality of their footwork and spins. And Plushy had a few sloppy landings when all of Evan's jumps were near perfect. It's too bad that Evan's moment has to be ruined by a sore silver medalist!

I totally agree Luv Bunnies. I read an article by a very misinformed sports writer this morning who thought landing the quad (though not cleanly) was enough to win. That is a part of the problem, though, I think. There is more to the overall program than a quad. Evan's footwork is amazing and way beyond the diffiiculty of Plushenko. He (Plushy) was complaining about the new scoring system, but he knew the new rules when he decided on his "comeback." When he chose not to put jumps in the last part of his long program, he knew the risk he was taking. Plushy is an amazing skater and will always hold a place in figure skating history, but for this competition, Evan was the best! :goodvibes

It was AWESOME watching them last night-I was SO happy for him. I don't think the Russian skater was at all happy about the results though....

He was quoted in the Russian media saying some pretty nasty things. Evan took the high road and really showed class!

I saw the interview earlier and couldn't say it any better. He is a class act!

Shelly, my mom was telling me that he said he should have gotten the Gold medal-he wasn't flawless himself, I saw some stumbling-I really believe he thought he had it after his performance & I thought that really extravagant skater (From USA but Russian I believe) should have scored better than he did-goes back to not counting those chickens before they hatch!

Johnny Weir. He is American but his coach is Russian and he trains in Russia.
