Anyone know if Disney has provided any type of EV Charging capability at SSR? I see there are Level 2 chargers at Disney Springs. I guess I could always leave my car at Disney Springs for the day to fully charge upon arrival and walk back to SSR. Appreciate any insights from any other EV DVC fans.

What/how do they charge you, by the KW or time?
It appears to be $0.35 per KWh, so for most vehicles that would be the equivalent of $2.45 - $3.50 per gallon of gas. So, a bit expensive, especially considering how cheap electricity is in Florida and how cheap gas is.

This is really interesting! What are the normal rates in Florida? In Canada, most of our level 2 charging stations are free, subsidized by municipalities and the Ontario gov't. Those that do charge you cost about $2.50 for an entire charge. That's in Canadian Dollars, so less than 2 bucks a charge in USD.

For those places that offer quick charge (empty to 80 percent charged in 30 minutes), the cost averages about $15.00 for a full charge.

Disney is really gauging people, wow.

As to the original Q, the only resorts that currently have EV chargers are Riviera, Wilderness Lodge, and Coronado Springs.

But it is charged with Disney Magic Electricity. :rolleyes1

Large parts of Florida seem to be free, but the average seems to be around $0.28 per kwh or the equivalent.

In California it varies, but an 80% charge on average costs me about $6 for a Hyundai Kona EV, but I also have a free station near by that I use most of the time.

The only place I have seen them is Riviera. The parking lot on the right side has 3 charge point stalls.

My local Walgreens has a charger the costs $0.49 per kWh. I personally pay about $0.06. Some chargers are free and some cost more than you'd expect, but that's the nature of public chargers; they aren't intended to be your primary source of fuel.

Don’t all of the parks have L2 chargers? We’re not taking our model 3 for a family vacation, but I’ve assumed the easiest way to charge would be to charge while you’re at the parks.

Christmas week 2019 we charged at Epcot - the EV is right in the front. Which means you gotta park in the spot before or right at "rope drop" as it obv fills up immed. (pre-COVID; not sure what it's like now) and prone to people "freezing" the spot, as it's great parking.

We also charged at ChargePoint close to the Copper Canyon parking lot area.

Husband mentions he thinks all the parks had charging- we just happened to only charge at Epcot.

I'm sure you guys are familiar with my fave website "Abetterrouteplanner"? Not sure if I can drop in the link here. I think it worked. Edited to add Plugshare as a great resource as well here.

There are 4 to 5 chargers at each park. All are on a first come first serve basis. Thus, you should not necessarily assume it will be easy to get one.

They need to offer a lot more charging stations at the parks in Florida......even Disneyland has about 40 stations in each parking lot/structure now and a lot fewer guests overall.

They will, as electric vehicles become more popular, and that depends a lot on total range per charge, especially in rural areas, or people driving cross country. I think hybrids are probably better right now for those applications.

Zipping around a big city is one thing, out on the open road on a road trip is another.

Considering most new EVs have ranges well over 200 miles, we are there already. Especially ones than can take 75+kw charge speeds.

I have a Hyundai Kona EV and I would drive it cross country with no hesitation right now. The only exceptions are the states that have very limited infrastructure, which are Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota and parts of Minnesota, all other states are doable on fast chargers alone.
