Lots of people don't realise that a few of the Midland and northern train companies have a deal with Eurostar meaning you travel to St Pancras for peanuts.

Go to the Eurostar website, and where it asks where travelling from, don't click St Pancras, click on more, and see if any of the stations listed are nearby for you. It saves the rip off uk train companies fares to London.

That is worth knowing!

Tried a couple of quotes - wouldn't bring anything up for dates in March/April, and one quote for early Feb was £190 for one adult, one child, with - get this - 8 and a half hours travel time for the outward journey !!!

It does appear that only certain trains link up with the through fare - as I know there are trains leaving Nottingham each day which would get into St Pancras in plenty of time for the morning direct Eurostar to DLRP, but that option is not available on the through fare.

Hello.

I agree with the poster that said the earlier you book seat the cheper they are. Eurostar seat are sold in "classes" even within standard class there are 10 fare classes. Say 40 seats in the cheapest (known as BZ class) then 30 seats in the second cheapest (BX class) etc ect. The less full the train is and the more seats available, the cheaper your price will be.

It figures the earlier you book the less full the train is - usually therefore the cheaper your seats are.

Children under 4 can travel for free with them sitting on your lap the whole way. But with a wriggly 3 yr old its not as easy as it sounds, if the train is full theres nowhere for them to sit and I fear you may be in for a uncomfortable journey.

The lowest price for general public in standard class direct from St Panc. or Ashford is £52 return per adult and £38 return per child (aged under 12).
