Could anyone tell me if the Eurostar fares are ever available at an "offer" rate? I've just priced up Ashford-Disney return for 4 and it's coming out at around £600!!!! Is that what I should expect to be paying? If so, think I'll take advantage of the European maps on the TomTom and drive there!

Thanks in advance!

I find that the earlier you book the cheaper they seem to be we booked for 2 of us for June back in Jan and it was just under 180 but now the same journey is much more

It's definitely a case of the earlier the better with Eurostar, we booked our November seats last month as soon as they were released and only paid £512 for 6 adults and 2 children on the direct train from St Pancras return.

If you decide to drive instead it isn't a bad thing, we usually drive and all really enjoy it :thumbsup2 The only reason we're taking the Eurostar this time is because my parents are coming and my dads a professional driver......he didn't really fancy the long drives when he's on holiday!

The drive is pretty simple, especially with satnav, will you go via ferry or eurotunnel?

Have fun planning! :thumbsup2

When are looking to go? It is possible to get the cheapest rates if your booking far enough in advance. I looked for friends a few weeks ago for half term week and it was around £500 each way for the 4 of them!!

We've just returned from our first self drive trip and it was so much easier than I thought it was going to be! It was only around 2.5 hours from tunnel to DLP and we only got a little lost as DH hadn't put an exact postcode in just the area. Numpty! Tunnel, Tolls and Fuel was around £250 total which is cheaper for us than going Eurostar even booking months in advance.

we are going in july and i booked the day the tickets came out, and for 4A, 3youths and 1child we are paying £536 return :thumbsup2

Hi, jumping on your thread but how far in advance can you book Eurostar tickets?

if you phone Eurostar instead of waiting until they release their fares online, you get the best prices and you could book 10 months or even more in advance of travel.

I thought that but I've seen people saying they had trouble booking that far in advance, that it took quite a few times ringing up to get anywhere. Don't want to have a high phone bill and getting nowhere

just had a quick look online, you can book the direct Eurostar now up til the first week of November 2012 - but even booking it now, for midweek 5th-8th November, the online cheapest price is £169 per adult return. Thats £100 per person more expensive than the cheapest fare when the seats are released by phone. You're not going to spend £100 in phone calls to Eurostar to book by phone ;).

I just booked over the phone for dates that weren't online yet. We paid £69 per adult and £49 per child, return tickets.

That's ok then. I'm not going until feb half term so will ring them soon and find out prices etc

Definitely phone them up for the cheapest fares. I registered with them to be notified when the dates went on sale and they emailed me the day before. I paid £218 for the two of us because I couldn't get the cheapest fare going out but got it coming back. :)

Incidentally, I went on to say no to 0870 website and was given the landline number for Eurostar which worked fine for me. Meant I could phone from my mobile without incurring extra charges. (Might save your phone bill a bit?)

I think we booked ours way in advance for our trip in 2 weeks, we paid £69 for the adults and £50 for the children all return in 1st class, or leisure select or whatever they call it!

Sorry, I don't understand about "say no to 0870 website". How did you get the landline number?

I'm finding this thread really useful as DS has decided to try and price a trip up for himself and friends. I'm just glad they have decided to choose DLP for their first parent-less trip so want to help all I can. :goodvibes

www.saynoto0870.com

It gives you landline alternatives for 0845/0844/0870/etc numbers. I always have a look on there before phoning any of those numbers. No alternative for the Disney booking line unfortunately! :sad2:

Just rang on one of landlines and she said tickets only up to start nov at moment. After a ill while of me asking if she could take details and let me know when feb come out, she went off and asked and came back and said she can put me on the advance reservation list do took my details

Thank you for all the replies, really appreciate the help:)

If we decide to go by Eurostar I will definitely book well in advance and keep my fingers crossed that my dates match the cheapest rate!

Was thinking of going in November next year, but it seems a really long way off - may have to rethink my plans!

We booked our seats for late November around 3 weeks ago so i'd check again.
