We are doing the Dover to Barcelona next summer and I know my kids are thrilled to go to London home of Mary Poppins, but what are some other goods movies that kids can relate the movie and Europe too?

I guess your girls are you young to appreciate European Vacation ;).

Ratatouille would be my next suggestion.

We took our children to England when they were 7, 8, & 11...here's what was really good! :)

1. Mary Poppins of course
2. Little Vampire...it's really cute
3. Sword in the Stone
4. Chronicles of Narnia
5. Peter Pan (all the sequels)
6. Willy Wonka & the chocolate factory
7. Robin Hood

Books:

All the Above (except Little Vampire..not sure if that's a book or not)
Read aloud Robin Hood by Howard Pyle, it brings the history alive!!

1. Alice in Wonderland
2. Door in the Wall
3. Apple and the Arrow
4. Otto of the Silver Hand
5. Murder of her Majesty

Enjoy!!

The newer version of The Parent Trap with Dennis Quaid, Natasha Richardson (RIP) and Lindsay Lohan.

DD is excited to be going to Barcelona and wants to do a Cheetah Girl tour to all the sites in their 2nd movie. LOL!

That's the movie that got my eldest DD excited about Barcelona in 2007 when we did the WB TA. This summer we are doing a Med cruise with all 3 DDs. We are using it again for our two youngest as well as the Lizzy McGuire movie since it's set in Rome and that's one of our ports.

If you are referring to National Lampoon's European Vacation......depending on the age of the children, it could be GREATLY appreciated.:lmao:

A couple other movies to use to get kids excited about Rome. Since both are long movies , you could just show the relevant parts.
Ben Hur - chariot races - Circus Maximus
Spartacus - gladiator training and the gladiator contests - Colosseum

My DD (12) loves the Lizzie Maguire Movie as she goes to Italy on a school vacation :thumbsup2 and we both love the National Treasure film which has scenes in London and has that all important Disney feel too :dance3:

"Flushed Away" is another good one. Did they show that movie in the States? Very cute.
