Europe hotel transfers questions

We are booked on the Sept 10 British Isles out of Southampton. Does anyone know if we need to get our luggage to the hotel early for transfers or if we just show up at the designated time and bring luggage with us? We aren’t staying at the Disney hotel but we were able to book the transfer from the Disney hotel to the port. Our hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the Disney hotel where pickup is.

Ooh that’s a great question. Looking forward to an answer!

When we sailed on the Magic last September (so taking the DCL bus to Dover rather than Southampton, but otherwise a similar situation in that we were not staying at the DCL hotel), we arrived about 10 or 15 minutes prior to our scheduled time. There was assistance right at the drop off point in front of the hotel (Doubletree by Hilton at that time for bus pick-up to go to the port; the DCL hotel was the Churchill, so the Doubletree was only used as an assembly point for those like us who booked our own hotels and only booked transfers from London to the port) who took our luggage and loaded it onboard a truck that carried the checked bags to the port. We next saw it outside our room on onboard. We kept our carry-on bags with us and were directed to a meeting room with rows of chairs set up for us to wait. After about 30 minutes, we were directed to a bus, they loaded carry-on bags into the luggage hold, we boarded and drove to the port, retrieving our carry-ons once there.

Great report! Thank you. Is there a pick up location at Healthrow outside security?
We are not staying the night before in a DCL hotel but at a Heathrow location for easy access the next day to the bus. Just do not know the pick up location.

Cannot speak from experience about the Heathrow pick up location, but it would be very surprising to find it inside the security perimeter. Typically, arriving international passengers have to pick up their checked bags and clear immigration and customs before getting to any form of ground transportation. I’m sure DCL will let arriving passengers booked on DCL transportation know about the pick up location at the airport.

We did a Med Cruise last summer and we used Costco for pre/post cruise stays. I would highly recommend using them and pricing is very reasonable. We stayed in really nice hotels and the Costco price includes Hotel, Breakfast and transfers to/from Airport or Cruiseport. It was simple and one of our best decisions. Call them directly is best and tell them how many nights you want to stay, how many people, etc. They were great to work with.

We boarded in Barcelona last month and just asked our hotel to arrange a car to get us to the port. It was effortless and worked really well.

Did you have to wheel your own luggage through lines or was it collected from DCL when you got out of the car?

We had to take it to the porter/luggage area which was outside the building we needed to enter to board. It was very close (like 40 feet or so from the doors). It was really easy and the entire process wasn't bad at all.
