Travel Mole are reporting that Essex-based Clippers Quay Travel, which trades as Euro Disney Direct has been rapped by advertising watchdogs ASA.

A company selling accommodation at Disneyland Paris has been rapped by advertising watchdogs for misleading customers after it admitted that offers featured on its website might not be accurate.

A customer complained to the Advertising Standards Authority after booking a four-night trip to the Hotel Cheyenne, which was advertising with free half-board, via www.eurodisneydirect.com. They were later told by email that the free half-board offer was no longer available.

Essex-based Clippers Quay Travel, which trades as Euro Disney Direct, told the ASA that customers were told at the final booking form stage to confirm they had read the sales conditions, which made it clear there might be errors on the website.

It said offers were linked to live availability, which were ever changing and considered that the website clearly conveyed that to customers in the terms and conditions. It said the 'provisional online order' was received by reservation staff following the complainant's booking, and it immediately contacted the complainant to explain it could not fulfill the 'provisional' order.

It offered alternatives, such as adding on the half-board meal plan, accepting an alternative hotel where the free half-board offer was available or cancelling the online booking order. In upholding the complaint, the ASA said: "We considered that the provisional nature of the booking and availability was significant information which should be made clear from the outset of the booking process. "We did not consider it was sufficient to set out that information in a separate link or in the terms and conditions.

"Because we considered that the ad did not make sufficiently clear that availability of the advertised offer was limited or that bookings were provisional until consumers had received a follow-up confirmation e-mail, we concluded that the ad was misleading."

Funny enough I did wonder about them. Booked for Jan 15 originally for a fantastic low price. Went ahead and booked and they then rang, guffawing about this price being too low and say NPB would never be just €300 for a week. Kind of fuming I didn't hold tight as I had paid what was advertised and it not being my fault they had provided the wrong price on their site.
They wouldn't entertain it when I did point out that it was bad business / probably breaking consumer laws.
Wonder if I have grounds for a refund.

I am SO FREAKING GLAD! I don't know if people remember the trouble I had last year, but they sold me 7 nights in the Cheyenne, took my deposit, then telephoned BEFORE the balance was due to say the original offer wasn't available (they sold it "based" on the current deal but they didn't actually check it, and more than doubled the price in the call to me!) and I can cancel it or pay the current price. I went MAD!
I had EXACTLY the same problem as is mentioned in the complaint (but mine was not free food, just 40% off) and in the end, I got the Sequoia, for the same 7 nights, for just slightly more than the original Cheyenne price because Disney themselves, had the deal showing and I pointed out to that god awful TA it was a "live" deal.
So now I hope other people read that article because they really are a shambles of a company. I know others have used them and I made it clear how useless they were with me, customer service was disgusting (the emails are racist towards a female Caribbean staff member who they said was rude to me over the phone too!) and it seems that the ASA have exactly the same opinion on this company as I do.
They nearly ruined our trip for us as they made it as difficult as possible to get what we wanted, even trying to request a room through Disney was a no go because I didn't have a proper reference number.
My advise is to stay clear of Clipper Quay, Disneyland Paris Direct and Euro Disney Direct - all the same company......

Try it Kizzy - I made the fight public on their Facebook page, wrote many emails and many telephone calls(which ended in me in tears and my Pirate slamming them on the podcast). I eventually got the Sequoia over the Cheyenne, for three hundred pound less than what they were charging for the Cheyenne!

I would sugest you both contact the ASA and Trading Standards. Appears they have been geting away with it for far too long.

Thanks for the info.

I was thinking to book our next stay with them but as far as I understand it it could be better to do not so.

Am I right ?

:thumbsup2

I think so, I haven't used a travel agent for years as I like to have control of my holiday myself. If I want to upgrade/change anything I want to be able to speak to DLP direct not have to go through a travel agent and be at their mercy.

I do realise that some travel agents work really hard for their customers and I'm not saying I wouldn't use one ever again but certainly not for DLP.

I booked with a TA for this trip but am regretting it. Won't do it again.

Glad to see this, I remember well the upset that was caused to Lisa. I'm another who hasnt used a TA for many years.

I just despise shaddy TA that mislead people. People often save for over a year to have the magical holiday at Disney and to be taken advantage of it horrible.

So glad they put a stop to this one.
