Eureka My Mom struck gold!!!

My Grandma is moving and mom is helping clear out 60 years worth of stuff.

this weekend she found all of the 8mm (??, I think that's the size) film from their drum and bugle corp days and family vacations. Se also found my Granddads Marine Corp uniform complete with ribbons (in perfect condition) and her drum and bugle corp practice rifle. There is a treasure trove of stuff there, all stashed away in various places. She also found all of my Grandmas cards, she kept every greeting card that was given to her or made for her.

I won't talk about the hideous pictures of me at the age of 10 in this horrible purple dress, move along people move.a.long.

OH those are the best treasures!!!
I can't wait to see photos of that uniform..
I have DH's grandpas WWII hats... Someone tried to claim them a year ago and I was very nice about explaining where they could go and exactly how to get there.. DH has had possession of them for 13 years.. they ain't leavin' my house ever!!!

Seriously, that is so cool! You can make some really neat displays with the ribbons, we did one for my FIL.

I loved my prom dresses. Very 90's but cute.

I'll have to get the pic from mom and scan it when DH gets home on Fri. I got the dress for xmas from grandma cause it's in a pile of stuff mom is handing me, then the next pic is of me wearing it. I don't even remember the dress so I must have tossed it when we got home. The look on my face is priceless!

I'm not sure what will happen to the uniform. Mom skipped over Grandma and gave it right to my Uncle. He was a Marine too so we know he will take care of it. Mom wants to get a full frame to put the whole thing in, not sure where anyone will put it like that though. I just want pics of it. The thing hasn't seen the light of day in 50 years, mom remembers seeing it when she was around 7 years old.

what a great find for your family history!

we have a bunch of my dad's stuff from WWII that my mom has put in a shadow box, it is quiet special to us!

my "don't show the public" photo is my 10th grade yearbook photo talk about a bad hair day!

buffy, that is way cool! i love stuff like that.
i also have the "never show to anyone" photo. i think it's my 4th grade pic.
holy moly is it ever ugly. we were just looking at the pics not to long ago and dh was killin' himself laughing at that picture. pretty bad!

Oh, MomK must be so excited with the goodies. It will look great in her house on display.

As far as that picture goes, imagine I'll be spending all day with her Saturday, I'll have to give her a call to bring it.
