Etsy: is there money to be made?

Is there anyone who sells on Etsy that can give me some feedback?
Can you make money consistently? What sort of things have you found there is a good market for, and what did you think might work that TOTALLY didn't?
I'm looking to make some extra $$ now that my youngest is in school, and am a pretty crafty type person, looking for advice, and i know I can find that on the budget board!

I started selling a few vintage things on Etsy. I only put up a few items but they all sold. And I feel like people will pay a little more on Etsy then they will on ebay for things.

I've sold some vintage things, patterns (made no money off of them) and destashed some fabric/supplies. The things I made to sell occasionally sold but it is a lot of work and a lot of competition. I did better when I switched back to ebay. As a buyer I perfer to use ebay to, the sections are not cluttered with inappropriately tagged items.
