eTicket Question/Concern

So, I finally jumped on the bandwagon and bought an iPhone 4S.

Naturally, I started filling it with apps, and remembered that the DIS had eTicket.

I was going to buy it, but the reviews are really pushing me away from doing so. People are saying that it hasn't been updated since April 2010, it's slow to load, has false or outdated information, etc., etc.

So, I'm just wondering if any of this is true and if it is, are there any plans to update the app? I just don't want to spend $6 on something that will or has already become obsolete.

I realize this post may have sounded kind of mean or nasty or whatever, but I'm genuinely interested. My friend's dad makes apps for fun (not to mention he makes $1,000+ on them per month) and has told me time and time again that's it's difficult to keep them constantly updated without being on your computer 24/7, so I do understand.

Thanks! :)

The 2013 DVC points dont seem to have been updated yet and they have been out for as bit now so I would say that its not a huge priority for the company

e-Ticket does have a couple good points. It is a good interface for surfing Disboards when traveling the parks.

the app has become outdated with LOTS of old info and almost no new info (lots of things that are no longer there (Storytime with Belle, Mickey's Toon Town) are still listed and new places (Pollo Campero/BabyCakes NYC, Captain EO (which is kinda listed under Honey I Shrunk the Audience which isn't really helpful))...it's kinda a shame because it was so well supported in the beginning

that said it still has some good points....the reviews for most of the attractions are still true and the menu's for most of the current food places listed are still kept up to date for the most part (which is hard as much as they change menu's at some places)...and it is an easy way to get to the boards...I've certainly got my $6 out of the app but if I had to buy it again I might think twice

I agree whole heartedly. I use this app almost every day to access the Disboards, but it was supposed to be so much more than that. It's a shame that this app never seemed to realize it's potential.

I got it in the fall and it works at my house six miles away from the parks but won't load when I'm actually on property.

Not really a valid excuse though. I've bought 99c apps from small developers that have been updated regularly. Seems to me that the money's been taken and now it's being left out in the cold. The fact it's still full price is a joke. Genuinely angry I spent the money on this app, but I guess I got drawn in by the big song and dance being made about it when it was released.

There are numerous posts in the e-ticket support\sticky thread at the top of these forums that have remained unanswered for a very long time.

I am someone who hopes they have not abandoned the app, and really do wonder what is going on with it. I fear it is dead, and the powers that be are simply hoping people forget about it. I don't mean that to sound harsh, as I think Pete and gang are all very customer service oriented, however, I think they bit off more than they can chew with this one, and don't know what to do about it.

It is frustrating that it has not been updated in a long time, and the price, is, well, WAY out of line. .99 would be FAR more appropriate, or, at this point, free.

Hey Folks

While I am not directly involved with eTicket I did make some calls and did some research to see if I could address some of the concerns expressed here.

First - while the app itself has not been updated for a while (it looks like it was last done in 2010) the data is being taken from the same datasources/databases that are on the DIS, so the information is being updated on a regular basis.

Yes, some information could be out-of-date. While everyone tries very hard to keep all the information on the site and the app as up-to-date as possible they're only human and sometimes things get missed. If you find information that needs to be updated please send me an email at John@DreamsUnlimitedTravel.com and I will make sure it gets to the appropriate people so the information can be updated. Please put 'eTicket update' in the title so I can pull them out of my email faster.

There are plans for a major update to the maps once the new Fantasy Land expansion is complete.

As far as price that is out of my control. For a variety of reasons I cannot speak to the price of the app now or in the future.

PeterPan09 - I have no idea why your's would not work on property. I live a few miles from WDW and have used the app all over Central Florida and in every park. I am sorry but I don't have an answer for this.

Thanks
John

While PeterPan09 did not say which service he was using, I would assume it was AT&T? While we were at the parks in August I noticed that I had poor reception in many areas of the parks, especially at our hotel (Pop Century). I'm not sure how much that would affect the operation of the app, but would certainly slow down the data coming in from the Dis.
