Is this something I can take care of and can I do it now? I am leaving on the EBTA in May. Please let me know. Thanks! :)

From what I've read, it's not expected to come online until November 2023.

Well, is says May 2023 but it has a grace period of 180 days, November 2023 I guess. Do I need to still apply for it? I'm thinking maybe? I'm in the USA, If that helps.

The system isn't active yet, they expect it to start in November. (I know it got pushed back multiple times.)

I think what you may be talking about is the Entry/Exit system where fingerprints and photos would be required in lieu of the passport stamps/process. That was supposed to start in May. We are flying to Venice in July so we would have to do that. However, I'm just now reading, due to your question, that this has been considered delayed and now is just potentially by end of 2023.

The ETIAS is still scheduled to be November 2023. The grace period of 6 months is considered an implementation period and would actually be from the November date not prior to that.

Please be aware that all the links in this thread are unofficial sites run by who knows who. Only go to an official EU site for info. This is the official site: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en

Any official EU site has a domain ending with .eu - like .gov in the US.

When ESTA, the equivalent for Europeans coming to US started there were so many sites charging you an extra fee to send your I go there and such. I expect a million similar scams coming up when this comes online. That’s why it’s so important to use the official site. Also, you will get the most up to date info there.

Thank you! I'll delete the unofficial links I posted. I couldn't find the official one when I did a quick search.

Yes, it’s not easy to find. I guess because it’s not up and running. I totally understand how unnerving that lack of info about this must be.
