I'm coming down on the 24th and I file as independent come tax time. So, when moving down to Orlando (from Virginia), how hard is it to establish residency and obtain a drivers license? Has anybody had experience with this in the past? Trying make life easier come next April as I plan to extend once my program is over.

well when i moved to georgia i needed a copy of a utility bill and my drivers licence from the other state and my birth certificate.

It is not that hard, but it is expensive if you have a car. I am going to need around $400 to get my car legal.

soo i leave in like 3 weeks for my cp. and i know i alredy want to extend i was jw is it nescessary to establish florida residencey and get a drivers liscense. or is it something that would make it a little easier while staying there?

so easy... u dont even need proof of residency. u just say u lived there and they believe u

I guess the key is are you going to be driving down here or rely on CP transport etc?

The nice thing with having Florida residency is there are all kinds of discounts that are offered to us simply by showing our Florida ID.

well I'm flying there so def cp transportation. But do any of you still think it would be worth to get like a FL I.d.?

If you will be here only temporarily for the CP, you dont need to establish residency. The state is very transient.

If your state has state income taxes, I would establish residency in FL. If you don't, you will be responsible for taxes for your original state even though you were not living there. Since you don't have a car, it should be relatively inexpensive.
