While you are in the College Program are you establishing Florida residency. What if you are a CP and want to go to UCF? Would your time there count as a resident?
If you are not a dependent, you have to live in Florida for 12 consecutive months to qualify as a resident for tuition purposes. Dependent students are considered to be residents of the state where their parent or parents live.
For other purposes, you can establish yourself as a Florida resident by filing with the clerk of court of Orange County a sworn statement showing that you reside in and maintain a place of abode in Orange County which you recognize and intend to maintain as your permanent home.
I think the first thing they make you do is take a test on how to spell residency correctly. Haha. JK
It's definitely 12 months of independent living plus you'd need to register your car, vote, pay income taxes, or anything else that would show the state of Florida that you want to live there forever and not just get a cheaper rate on your tuition. If you're married, that helps too.
You have a couple options to choose from to establish your residency. (according to the UCF website)
