Who here has it? I'm thinking about getting it and wanted your thoughts. Seems a heck of a lot easier than a tubal ligation.

I had it done about 2 1/2 years ago. I chose this over the tubal b/c it was less invasive and less healing time. I was out shopping the next day! The only down side was the 3 months wait to see if the tubes are fully blocked.

My OB's office started doing this a few years back. The head OB pushed it at me a lot because I was pregnant with my 5th child and I left with info on it. It seems like it is a low risk type of procedure...but I don't know anyone personally who's done it. Just go over your options, get as much info as you can and make an informed decision.

A friend of mine was looking into in, and opted to go with a tubal instead. It was an outpatient surgery, and she was back at work 2 days later.

I looked into this but my insurance company wouldn't cover it. They said the cost of the device was a couple of thousand dollars.

I ended up having a tubal ligation instead and was back at work two days later. It was laproscopic and so easy, I wish I had it done 10 years ago.

You know what is way easier than a tubal ligation...a VASECTOMY!

I looked into this at my last gyn appointment. (I'm having issues with the Mirena IUD and cannot handle the hormones in other forms of BC either.) I had decided to go with Essure over a tubal, but DH offered and got a vasectomy instead.

I am going to talk to my Dr. about it. I wanted personal experiences.

My childbirth years are behind me and I'm sick of taking the pill every day.

WE went that way- in office- copay was like $40! Cheap! I then had a hysterectomy 3 years later so we are really safe!

Two of the Dr's in my neighborhood had it done and both love it. They said they had cramps that afternoon but no big deal. It was successful for both of them- they are in their early 40's!
