We want to go to the Boardwalk area to eat next Saturday night. I couldn't get an ADR at Flying Fish or Spoodles at this late date. ESPN Zone doesn't take reservations, and I'm wondering how long of a wait I could expect there on a Saturday night. We're a party of 7 or 8. Do they give you one of those light-up thingies so you can wander around while you wait for a table? Are there any other options at the Boardwalk?

it's 1st come, 1st served - based on table size. i don't recall the light up thing being used, i do remember the waitresses calling out names in the que line. how long you have to wait will depend on: 1)which time you plan on being there and 2)whether or not a good game is on.

We have only ever done lunch there, so I'm not sure. You can also try to be a walk-in at Flying Fish, or call that day. Last trip I called in the morning and changed a Flying Fish ADR from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, no problem. When we checked in at 7:50, they were telling people "no walk-ins." If they had called in the morning, I bet they might have gotten in. You can try the same thing with Spoodles too.

Next weekend is a big weekend for college football rivalries (the weekend after as well). I wouldn't count on being able to get in if you are going during a big game. We've had bad luck during football season trying to get in (even at off times).

There is always the Big River Grille on the Boardwalk or you might consider looking into restaurants at Y/BC and the Swan/Dolphin as well.

Ok please excuse me but being from the uk I know very little about football:laughing: but on december 13th the houston texans are playing the denver broncos. can somebody tell me if this is an important game? The kick-off is at 7:15pm so what time am I gonna need to be at espn to get a table? I already had plans to meet friends there that night. Thanks from an ignorant english bird:lmao:

Houston vs Denver is not a big game, except in Houston or Denver. Shouldn't be a problem.

And December 13th is a Thursday. The big American pro football day is Sunday. The big American college football day is Saturday. You shouldn't have any problem on the 13th.

To the OP - the ESPN Club doesn't have the light up buzzers. You stand in a line to be seated. You can try the bar side which has the same menu.

You could also try for a seating at the Yacht Club Galley. Just across the lake and usually not that crowded so getting a reservation is easier.

Yes they do give you one of those light up things. We were there in August, first week of free dining and it was a Wed night--Red Sox/Yankees on tv (Go Sox!). The place was pretty full. We probably waited about 35 minutes. But there is a bar with tvs and a gift shop to look around with some arcade games so the wait didn't seem bad at all--except for the part where we were all hungry!! As OP mentioned you can also hang around outside on the Boardwalk. I thought the food was good.

We were there a few weeks ago and there was a long line for dinner each evening. Of course it was during the World Series. It did not appear that they were giving people buzzers, as they were standing in the line. They were not wandering around the Boardwalk while they waited.
I think you can expect to wait 45 minutes to an hour when you want to go, unless you get there very early.
Good Luck
