Here's the situation. Next month I'll be getting married. We decided that for our honeymoon we'll do the 4 days at sea and 3 days on land. For the 3 days on land we had planned on going to AK, Epcot, and MK. It wasn't till about a week ago I found out that ESPN the weekend was going to take place at MGM Studios. I talked to the future DW about it and she says that it sounds like fun. I looked up the activities during the weekend but it really didn't give much detail besides the parades. Has anyone gone to it in past years? If so, did you enjoy it? Is it worth sacrificing a day at one of the other parks or just purchasing the park hopper option? I’ve been to the park during the Star War Celebration in ’02, but there’s definitely going to be a lot more going on during the ESPN weekend.

Well, a few things to consider here. When was the last time you were at WDW? How many times have you gone? Which are your favorite parks? Which are your least favorites?

If you've done MK 10 million times, you may want to skip that and spend that day at MGM for ESPN Weekends, since that would be a new experience. Maybe you really want to ride Everest? Or Do Soarin?

I'd figure out what else you really want to do and then narrow it down from there.

ESPN Weekend is a lot of fun. Tons of celebrities and athletes around to take pics with and get autographs. They have live Q&A sessions with athletes and they tape live shows (like Baseball Tonight last year). They have a whole section for games and competitions (like free throw shooting contests, slapshots, baseball pitching, etc.). It's a lot of fun.

I've been there twice and both times I missed AK and Epcot. I really want to ride Everest and Mission:Space. Do you know if you can buy a park hopper for just one day? Thanks for the help "The Mick".

I'm sure you can buy a hopper for one day. They are called "Magic Your Way Tickets" after all! If not, I'd be shocked.

If you've never been to Epcot or AK, allocate a whole day there for both of them. AK does usually close rather early though, so you may be able spend the evening at MK, see the new Pirates, maybe ride Space Mountain and see Wishes.

Also, if you've never seen Fantasmic! at MGM, MAKE SURE YOU CATCH IT. Fantasmic is possibly the single best thing WDW does. It's an absolutely awesome show.

Oh, and if you're staying on a Disney property, make sure to make use of your Extra Magic Hour days. If there's a day where one of the parks opens early or closes later for EMH, you've got to take advantage; you won't feel as though you're rushing around or missing anything, and you can take your time a little more.

When you talk about the competions and games, do the celeb athletes play as well?

I was there last year and am going back again this year. My dh said he want's to go every year. Works for me!
They had games and competitions you could play with other guests and some you play with celebrities. Jerry Rice played football with a bunch of people and then he hula hooped with my DD. My DH played basketball with some athlete(I can't remember his name:confused: ). And we went home with tons of autographs. Even though this event was taking place you could walk on all the rides. It was great!

So do they have autograh sessions or how does that work.My DH is wanting to go and is wanting to know about getting autographs.

Thanks,
Misty

They aren't really autograph sessions. They just are walking around and you say mr.... do you mind if I get your autograph. And that's it. They even take pictures with you. It was really easy. We got alot of autographs and pics.

Actually, the Park Hopper option costs the same whether you add it to a ten day ticket or a one day ticket. The cost is $40 and will give you hopping options for all your days. You cannot buy just one days worth of hopping for less.

I can't remember where I read this, but I think that they're doing fastpasses for celebrity autographs this year.

I just tried to find the article I read but I can't. I swear I saw that somewhere.

Wow that would be great my DH would be so very happy. If you find it will you post it please.

We never would have needed fast passes. We would just ask for autographs. Usually only a couple of people would be waiting. Sometimes the CM would wisk them away but if you walk along side they still give you there autographs. A couple of times I saw the Athletes getting annoyed with the cast members for pulling them away while they were talking to people(Brian Urlacker was one).
