ESPN on European cruise

I’ve taken three DCL cruises in Europe, and on all three, ESPN was blacked out and unavailable on stateroom TV’s. Has anyone sailed on a European cruise recently who can tell me if the ESPN was working on the ship? Thank you!

ESPN is not allowed to be shown outside of the USA. You could maybe subscribe to the ESPN + app? Or there is something called ESPN Player (app) that is viewable in Europe. But not sure if that's determined by the ISP of your phone or iPad? For ESPN + maybe using a VPN would let you get it? The same holds true for some movies on streaming services, like Netflix. They may be viewable in the US but NOT in other countries due to licensing agreements. And vice versa.

If you had the data available and coverage for a mobile device, you could also use a VPN and set your location to the U.S. It's definitely not something that's easy to do at sea.

Ok, I just realized that the first poster already mentioned the VPN. I have a few British shows I like to watch in the U.S. and trying to find good copies on YouTube is hit and miss. VPN works well to watch them off of ITV.

I was merely asking if the station would work on the stateroom TV’s. I’ve been in 19 Disney cruises and it’s worked in Mexico, Aruba, Bahamas, Virgin Islands, etc. just not in Europe.

No it won’t.
