Did you ever get the other dog you were thinking about getting?

Yes, yes did you get the other dog?

Hi all,

Thanks for asking. We are still discussing it :) I hope we can get her. We have to let the person who has her know by the end of tonight , so tomorrow I will let you all know! :)

Our only concern right now is that she is a small part pitbull, and Boston has some really unfair pitbull laws. Basically, any dog that is even part pitbull has to be muzzled in public and I really, really hate the idea of having to do that to little Daisy, just because her great grandpa was a pitbull. (Daisy weighs 20 lbs and stands a foot tall for pete's sake!) But I checked, and was told that yes, the law would apply to her and if we were caught walking her w/out a muzzle, we could be fined. :(

That's MY biggest concern. DBF's biggest concern is the extra cost to kennel two pups when we go on vacation as opposed to one. I personally would rather have another dog and deal with paying the extra $$ but I guess he does have a point, that we have our Dec trip planned and budgeted, and we did not plan on needing to budget for an extra dog at the kennel. (It would be about an extra $250....we only kennel our pets at a certain place, and I know its expensive but Monty dog seems quite content there and it gives me peace of mind).

What to do??

Anyway, DBF and I will discuss and debate the pros and cons one more time this evening before calling the woman who has Daisy now and letting her know. Here's hoping we'll be letting her know "yes" :)

Find some friends that you trust to housesit, and also have them take care of the dogs. Depending on your friendship, you may be able to pay them off with a case of beer or a gift certificate to a restaurant that they like, or something similar. Much cheaper than spending $250 to put the dog in the kennel.

We have tried this. Most of our friends live far away from us. We live up near NH, most of our trusted and close friends live in Boston and don't drive. The ones who do drive, live further away, south of Boston.

Unless one of them is feeling really generous, I don't think we could get them to drive up to our house every day; and stay long enough to make sure the dogs don't destroy the place. ;)
