Has anybody used this service to transact a rental transaction? Is this the best service to use? Has anybody used an alternative service for escrow? They charge 3 percent. It seems to be cheap insurance to manage the transaction risk.

I have never heard of it but I'm one of those people who think there is very little risk involved. As a person who has rented points to others, rented points from others and transferred points into my account, I would only do it if the other person in the deal was willing to pay the whole 3% from his/her proceeds or add it to his/her cost.

Timeshare transfers will act as Escrow for $100 and do a full closing for $250 including up to $50 in recording fees. 3% on a DVC purchase of $5000 or more is highway robbery.

I originally posted this on the rent board. It was moved to the general board. This is renting insurance. 200 points for $2000. and three percent would be $60 dollars. I have told friends about renting points and as newbies to the rental board have felt it was too risky. I have many friends that would be interested in renting points with escrow befor buying dvc.

Some owners request full payment before transferring points. THis would appear to be an alternative compromise. I think 10.3 dollars per point is cheap.

I have read some renters have used this service.

Chips,

I understand your's and other's apprehension about renting points but I would be more worried about a dot com business going out of business and leaving with my money than a renter from these boards taking advantage of someone. I have heard of many dot coms that have gone bust but have never heard of a renter on these boards taking anyone's money and not giving them what was promised in return.

One can do escrow for buying or renting. Insurance is different. The DVC insurance for members only pays $5 pp.

i used them just recently (the "renter" paid the fee; as a frame of reference, it's $31 for a $1000 transaction).

both parties researched the company ~ they are legit & the process is fairly simple.
you're welcome to post or PM if you've any ?'s ~ i would definately use them again.
