Athletes and everyone on the WISH Team is an athlete, have a self centered side.
When we are doing our walks, runs or our dancing to the oldies with Richard, we tend to get tunnel vision and escape to our happy places. We find a place where Cable News can't find us and we cease to care about all the troubles of the world.
When I'm powering up a hill or flying along on a beautiful spring day, I am the center of the universe. I'm not just someone who lives and dies and is insignificant in the big picture. I'm wild and free and more alive than most people would ever believe possible.
We try to tell others about our happy places but they don't hear it. "A happy place doesn't envolve sweat and discomfort, right"? "A happy place is comfort and food and not having to test your limits".
How is it possible to be putting out everything you can and be feeling such inner joy? How when you are at the back of the pack in a race can you feel such power? Can it be that we become more than we are and yet also become closer to being in harmony with our world.
Does anyone else get that feeling, that nothing else matters for a little while till we are done playing and ready to return to our day to day responsibilities.
Thanks
Dave
