Hello everyone! I am brand new to this forum and am a bit overwhelmed. I am looking to plan a 2013 Escape Wedding Reception...only! We are getting married and having the ceremony in our Church. I have not found any threads on here that contain only a reception. I have gathered ALL the information I can possibly find on what an Escape package pertains to. In 2011, we had planned a wedding reception at the Disneyland Hotel in the famous Sleeping Beauty Pavillion. However, we now see the budget for that scale of a wedding is not in our means. To bring the cost down, our second choice is an Escape package. I have only seen the ceremony/reception package and am curious to know if anyone has done a Disney reception ONLY for under 7,000 with or without the Escape package. If anyone can reply, I would be so grateful. I am so overwhelmed with the threads and lingo here!! Thank you kindly! :flower3:

I'm doing an Escape wedding at WDW. I don't think you will find any threads for Escape receptions only because the Escape package doesn't include a reception. I think what you probably want is a private dining event. I'd highly recommend Carrie Hayward's Passporter's Disney Weddings and Honeymoons (available as an e-book or in softcover) for information and photos of some locations where you could make that happen. We chose to eat at Chef's Domain at Citrico's after consulting that book. That's a really nice private dining room experience, but it only holds 12 people and the one and only time of day that you can use it is 6:00 pm, so that might not work for you.

I think that Carrie's web site, Disney Travel Babble, might also be helpful for you, because she has information about private dining experiences (and photos) in the parks and restaurants. The link to that page is: http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/private-party/

I hope that helps a little!

Thank you! Not only for your information but also for your timely response!!! You are so helpful. I am definitely looking into the website :)

I'm not sure an Escape package is what you are looking for.

Escape packages are for brides that don't really want a reception, or have a seperate reception planned. The package includes the ceremony, flowers, photography etc.

I think you would be better to look into a Private Catered Event rather than something through DFTW. Carrie's book, Passporter's guide to Weddings and Honeymoons has information on the private events as well

Good Luck! x

I agree with the above posters that you may want to consider a private dining experience. If you are still looking at Disneyland, they do offer receptions only but you still have to meet the minimums for the Wishes packages, which start at $12k on weekdays. The Escape package does include a lunch reception so you could call and ask if you can just have the lunch and no ceremony, although I feel like $5k is pretty expensive for lunch for 26 people.

Thanks all for the replies! I definitely think 5000 is way too much for a reception for a small amount of people. At this time, our guest list is around 80 people but we are desperate to have a reception at the Disneyland hotel. Currently our budget is 7000 MAX. I am guessing I will have to go around the whole "wedding" talk and settle for a private dinner at the hotel instead. If any one has ever had a reception ONLY, any advice is appreciated :)

Thanks again, all!

I definitely agree with the other posters! Carrie's book mentioned above helped me out SO MUCH.. I would definitely pick it up if you have the chance.. You are definitely looking for a private event not the escape wedding package.. Good luck in your search & planning! I've researched everything on WDW but not DL so I don't have much input except for wishing you luck in finding the reception you're dreaming of! :goodvibes
