Escape Wedding 2014 - booking

We got married at WDW in 2008 - small escape wedding very cool I highly recommend! We went to the gazebo at the boardwalk resort and it was awesome for pictures, lots for guests to do while they wait as well. ESPN zone is nearby so some friends grabbed a drink and checked sports scores :)
Spend less on the ceremony and more on the room Deluxe resorts are awesome! Don't waste a lot of $ on flowers, disney's locations are so pretty I didn't feel like it would have made a difference. My only regret was not finding a way to get the top tier of the cake sent home :( for our 5 yr anniv I think I'll buy another one!
Congrats!

Haven't picked any vendors as yet as I thought Disney provided most of them within the package ?!? I thought all I would need is my hair & makeup ?! But any number or advise to who to pick who be great .. Planning and really praying for the 26th if August as that is how we met !!! :-) not sure where to go after the wedding tho . X x x

Also meant to ask... My sister died at the age of 26 years young and we would love to release butterflies at our ceremony in her memory. Does anyone know where i get his or if Disney allow is ? X x

You will also need an officiant. Disney send you a list of who they recommend with the initial pack you receive.

Disney provide photography as part of the package but alot of people choose to hire their own, there are alot of great ones out there!

Also, as you are coming from the UK it is worth thinking about a dress press service (incase it gets abit crumpled on the way over). We have booked Carolyn Allen's, they have been most helpful.

Sorry i dont know about the butterflies but im sure someone on here will be able to help

I've never heard of Disney doing anything like this. They can help with memorials during the ceremony though such as candles or flowers.

Aw it doesn't have to be butterflies but I would love to have something at my ceremony as she won't be standing beside me :-( x x

You can always ask, it doesn't hurt to try.

Your officiant can also help with this and another idea is to mention her in your programme.

Thanks ladies you have given me a lot of thinking to do :-) anything else that I should know ?? X x

Yes we got that a few weeks ago but thought I'd find out more on here . X x

Hi :)

Fellow UK bride here - we are getting married at the end of August 2013, so I totally understand everything you are going through - we were meant to be getting married orginally this month 2012, but due to circumstances had to piut it back a year - I have been sooooo impatient!

I'm still waiting for the month date but as everyone else says there is still loads to do. Due to when you are getting married you may get lucky and get free dining. I sent out save the dates in Feb this year - just postcard magnets but with a pre-RSVP so I could get back guest numbers by the end of March 2012. Thats because normally the holidays for the folloing year are out to book in April, so I wanted to be ready as I was praying for free dining - lol!

We go lucky, and free dining was available, so most of the guests and family has all booked Disney. We did this direct as it was cheaper, just went online - so all park tickets, rooms and dining is sorted. From the UK the flights aren't out until at least 12 months before. We should be able to book flights in Sept/ Oct this year - again direct as it's cheaper.

Just hint if you want ideas on prices, go on Disneys website and look at accomodation for this year - prices dont change hugely. Our friends and family are staying at all different Disney places - grooms parents are a Old Key West in a villa, by parents and sibling are in Saratoga in a villa, friends are in Coranado in a room and we are going with Animal Kingdom lodge aswe have stayed there before and LOVE it! :cool1:

I have my dress, grooms suit - you may want to check out buying in the UK vesus renting (prices are crazy whn you want the suits for 2 weeks or you could even rent in Florida. Bridesmaid dresses are bought, I have a florist sorted in Florida and also have booked the reception venue over there. It tkes time and e-mails, and people thin you are a bit nuts planning so far in advance - like you I couldnt work out why it is so short compared to the UK whih is like years ahead??? Saying that, my friend got married at the Bellagio in Vegas 2 years ago and i was exactly the same thing - and her wedding was AMAZING - I think they just do it better in the States, and so Im not worried!

Hope all goes well and happy planning!!!!

congrats on up coming wedding pixiedust: bet you are mega excited!!!
I really dont know what I should be doing at the moment. This feels very strange that our reception is booked and deposits have been made for most things yet I still havent had confirmation on my wedding . This is stressing me out a little as I have no idea what I should be doing or what I need to do

The men are planning to hire out kilts (in scotland) , which means we will have over 6 kilts and 2 kids. This is due to the fact we arent keen on hiring out in Florida a we have heard mixed reports on quality etc.
Iam hope that our budget will match the next 2 year increase that Disney do every Jan . I will feel soo much better when my date is booked
Happy thoughts
:) xx

We are possibly (nothing set in stone yet, but I'm hoping!) looking into an Escape in 2014 as well so I get the stress of waiting. Just take a deep breath, most UK brides (that I've seen anyway) do the Escape weddings and have a marvelous time.

You should also have a listen at Carrie's podcast "Disney Wedding Podcast" on iTunes. It helps a lot and she is such a guru at all this! And of course the DISBoards are a wonderful asset as well.

I wish you the best! It'll all be wonderful :)

Hi all,

This is my first post as well. My fiancee and I are getting married next July and were originally going to go with the Escape package but once we sat down and figured out the upgrades that we wanted, it was going to cost the same as the minimum Wishes package. We decided to upgrade and therefore were able to book 1 year in advance instead of only 8 months in advance, We had a definite date and venue in mind and that was the only thing that I have stressed about. Weigh out your costs and you may want to upgrade to Wishes and get to book your date sooner. Cheers :)
