We just returned from Escape School with our Brownie troop... we cx'd our next week meeting and resched to tonight so the girls could learn about strangers, etc... This is a wonderful program!! I highly suggest it to anybody with young children (5-15)... this isn't old school anymore... This hit pretty close to home as we have had 3 attempted (keyword attempted) abductions this school year and we are just a small community but luckily we have trained our children right so far...

Sounds like a good program, Jan, and so smart to teach the kids. We do have to do all we can to protect against the trash of the world. Great!!

I also thinks its excellent. Its done in just the right way for it to be informative yet not scary or threatening etc.

One thing they really focused on was not what a stranger is or looks like... it is what he/she does...

I was very impressed w/ Escape School when we went about a month ago.
I was a bit apprehensive about taking my 4 and 7 YO DD's and my DH and DM came to make sure it "was OK". They both were very impressed!
I loved the section about grabbing ahold of a stranger, walking their dog- mowing their grass- watering their yard- or the Mom w/ a stroller and NOT LETTING GO!!! if they felt they were not safe was great. It was so common sense.
When I was younger and riding my bike around the block and felt in danger from someone, it would have been perfect to enlist someone else's help.
I highly recommend!

I've never heard of this but it sounds like a great program. Is it just offered to groups or can individuals participate as well? I have a 4 1/2 yo and I think she gets the whole stranger danger concept but it can't hurt to have it reinforced by outside parties.

It was offered through our library a yr or so ago
