I have no clue how to organize this, and I was wondering if you guys could offer some advice. I'm trying to figure out how many BM's, MoH, Grooms men (is that what they are called??), etc...

Our guests will be:
1) My mom: I'd like her to have a role
2) My dad
3) My brother
4) Brother's wife
5) My BFF: I'd like her to have a role
6) BFF's husband
7) My BFF's son (will be 2-3 yrs old then)
8) My other BFF: I'd like her to have a role
9) Our mutual friend (guy)
10) DF's mom: Hasn't mentioned it, but I'm guessing he'd like her to have a role
11) DF's brother: He'd like him to to have a role
12) DF's brother's wife
13) DF's niece (will be 2-3 yrs old then)
14) DF's sister
15) DF's BFF: He'd like him to have a role
16) DF's BFF's GF

So, I was thinking:
-I'd ask my mom to be my MoH (do people typically do that?)
-My 2 BFF's could be my BMs (having only two is fine, right?)
-My DF would like to include his BFF & his brother-they could balance off my side by being groomsmen right? But what about his best man? He doesn't have a dad. I was wondering how strange it would be if his mom served as his "best man"??:confused3 I know he would love to include her.

OR, we could simplify (we are all for keeping it simple! & just have:
-my 2 BFF's as my BMs
-his BFF & his brother as his groomsmen and that's it.
That way, we actually have a little audience instead of most of our guests being up there with us!

Dumb question, but I have limited experience with weddings and zero experience with small weddings: Do you actually get to "walk down the aisle" for an escape ceremony? Then my mom would still have a role of walking me in & maybe DF's mom could walk him in.

We thought about having a flower girl, but we decided that it's going to get too expensive and also too "much"-we are trying to keep the ceremony simple and relatively quick! :thumbsup2

Thank you in advance!

I like Plan B. People don't necessarily expect to be part of the wedding party - they may want to just enjoy watching it! :thumbsup2

Also, your mom AND your dad could walk you down the aisle (yes, there's an aisle!). And the fewer attendants you have, the fewer flowers you have to buy. ;)

I think that who ever your want to be a part of the ceremony should be. It doesn't sound like either situation has a ton of people standing up for you. Either 6 or 4. However, you should def talk to DF about a role for his mother. I thought my DF would like his sister to stand up for him (they are very close) and he was not thrilled to say the least. Good luck on your decisions!

Thanks Lurkyloo! I like plan b as well. So I don't have to have a MoH?
That works out great-I really do want my mom to be included in the ceremony and I know DF will want this for his mom too.

And good call on the flowers! I was planning on just getting rose wands for my BM's. They are pretty cheap and I think they are sweet.

Thanks Indybride! Ok, another dumb question, but what do you mean by "stand up for him?" :confused3

DF is as confused about this stuff as I am! :rotfl: He said at the very least, he will definately want his mom to walk him down the aisle.

You can do whatEVER you want - it's your wedding! Heck, my Maid of Honor was a DUDE! :rotfl:

Really??? That's great! :rotfl: I'm going to tell that to DF because when I suggested that his mom be his "best man" he laughed at me.:)
