I have a question for escape brides!!???!!???

I have booked Randy to to my pics for my escape wedding, so what does disney do to make up for me not using theirs? I think I read somewhere that they will give you the Magic Kingdom session, and while I would love to do that, it is my wedding/honeymoon, and I do not know if getting up at 4 am would be good for either of us!!! Are there any other options?

Thanks ladies!!!!

They dont do anything anymore! It sucks!!!! I even tried to get Disney to just photography my reception so I wouldnt lose the money and they said no.

My WC confirmed to me today they will no longer swap the photography for anything else at all, not even a different time on the wedding day itself.

Oh no! That is really disappointing! I just do not think that the photography package that comes with the Escape is a good deal at all....and once I saw other people post Randy Chapman pics, and I saw his prices, I knew I had to book with him.

How much $ do you think you loose by doing this?

To be honest, I didn't care. Photography was the one detail I truly cared about since we will have those memories forever and it was more important for me to have Misty.

Lurkyloo may know. Maybe PM her.

GL!

I just want to add that it was not the Magic Kingdom photoshoot that was offered as an exchange before. It was only a 30 min photoshoot in everyday clothing not wedding atire (we did ours at AKL ).

Like dhay my pictiures where important to me and if that ment paying for something that I did not get then that was OK b/c i would rather "lose" money and have great pictures, than going with the package and hate my wedding pictures.

They don't put a dollar amount on any of the individual items in the Escape package, so it's hard to say how much you would "lose" by not using Disney's photography, and considering how overpriced all their other photographic services are makes it even harder to know what the actual value is.

However, you could price it out like this: Disney charges $175 for additional hours of photography, and 2 are included in the Escape package, so that's $350. They charge $155 extra if you want 40 prints in an album instead of the 20-print album that comes with the package, so you could say that the 20-print album costs $155.

So I guess you could say that the included photography costs $505 that you'd be "losing" by not using it.

Funny....I was just coming to this forum to discuss this very subject! :yay: My question is what are you going to do? Will you just have the Disney photographer still come to your wedding as well? Or do you just tell Disney to forget it?

I just got my BEO and asked my coordinator if there was a possibility of using the Disney photographer for my dessert party instead. I didn't figure there was any hope they would do it, but I just had to ask, right? :rolleyes1 I haven't heard anything, but y'all already told me the sad news....:sad2:

All in all, I'm still happy I went with an outside photographer! :)

Most photographers state in their contract that they will be the only the ONLY photographer for the event so unfortunately you can't have both Disney photography and an outside photographer there (I guess they tend to get in each others way). So you basically completely forfeit that portion of the package... I personally still have not heard any rave enough of Disney photogrpahy to chance it.

Thanks for all the input!

I think it is worth "loosing" a bit of money to get the photography I really want....and since I am not planning on hiring photography for our at home reception, I want to make sure I am really happy with the WDW ones!

Thanks again!

Pay more get less! its the new motto of our times. The Escape package went up by like 250 or something which isnt too bad. It stinks to have to "waste" part of the package but you HAVE to for pictures. I wish they'd give you something for it.

Its just not worth it to me, pics are too important. If you use outside photog, you pay more and get MORE. How can you argue with that?

Depending on the package that you chose- Outside photographers can actually be cheaper. To think that Disney only includes a small number of their photos in the package and makes you pay an outrageous fee for additional photos. I went with Randy's DVD only package where I can print as many photos as I want. Plus I really wanted Randy to come and take pictures of those "getting ready" pictures.

My only question is...if you get married in a part don't you have to use Disney photography...and who are they the same ppl that take photopass pictures?

If you do use a Park Location for your ceremony, reception, or dessert party, you have to use Disney Photography, but they are not the same as Photopass. They are Disney Photography Services.

I am using the same package! It is like $650 (in Canadian $), for 3 hours and I think approx 400 pix on a CD. Similar packages at home cost around $1500, so I am still considering it a good deal. Plus, the pictures I have seen from Disbrides on here using Randy look fantastic, so for me it was really the only option!

Its a GREAT deal! I think I went back and checked the price ten times to see if it was right! LOL:rotfl2:

My mom is paying for my Escape wedding, and when she agreed to it, I think she thought the $5000 got you more than it does. I feel like every day I'm telling her "Well this is going to be this much more money..." etc. Is Disney photography really that bad? I don't want to have to add another expense if I don't have to. Or is it just getting the extra pictures and whatnot being so expensive that bothers everyone? Does anyone know how much a cd with the pictures would cost?

Disney's Escape photography is not bad, it just hasn't historically been very creative - and lots of people are completely happy with their photos.

Mainly, people just object to the outrageous prices for anything beyond what's included in the package. However, Disney Event Group Photography recently introduced the option of swapping the included album for a disc of images if you pay an extra $395. (So it's kinda not a swap, since you have to pay, and it's still pretty spendy, but it beats the $750 price tag if you keep the album and add on the disc).

....that's going to be a tough decision. :confused3 What happens if you want other prints or enlargements or anything like that if you don't get a disc? I'm actually thinking about doing an MK bridal portrait session, so maybe I won't need a disc between all the pictures I'll be getting between the two. Argh, I keep trying to tell myself "no more upgrades with this and that" just because it's getting to be pricey and then there's always something else I want. I thought doing an Escape would help eliminate some of that!
